Newlywed Josh Radnor on the Best Thing About Being Married: ‘I Like the Mornings and I Like the Nights’ (Exclusive)

Josh Radnor is loving newlywed life!

While attending The Center at West Park’s 2nd Annual Fall Benefit in New York City on Nov. 14, the actor, 50, opened up about being married to his wife, Jordana Jacobs.

“It’s fantastic. I love it. I love it,” Radnor told PEOPLE exclusively. “I know you’re supposed to say that, but I actually love it.”

As for his favorite part of being married, the How I Met Your Mother alum said, “I like the mornings and I like the nights.”

“I mean, we sometimes don’t see each other during the day because of work stuff, so I love waking up together and then reconnecting at the end of the day,” he added. “And we keep saying, ‘Let’s catch up. We need to catch up,’ so we’ve been doing a lot of that.”

Radnor and Jacobs, who is a clinical psychologist, wed earlier this year at the Cedar Lakes Estate in Hudson Valley, N.Y.

The actor revealed the couple tied the knot on Instagram by sharing a series of photos from their celebration.

“I got married! Two weeks ago. In a *light* blizzard. It was an incredible overwhelming snowy bliss-filled weekend,” Radnor captioned the carousel of images, which featured the newlyweds kissing amid a wintry background.

“So grateful to so many people I love for making the trip to @thesistersofcedarlakes to be with us. To @forgedinthenorth for the extraordinary pictures. But most of all to Jordana. I can’t believe my great good fortune that I get to call this extraordinary woman my wife,” he added.

During the Nov. 14 event at The Center at West Park, Radnor starred in Lobby Hero, a play written by Kenneth Lonergan.

Directed by Mark Brokaw, it also featured performances by Casey Affleck, Jamie Hector and Aubrey Plaza.

Lobby Hero, according to an official synopsis, follows “Jeff, a luckless young security guard trying to get his life together after being thrown out of the Navy. But the lobby proves to be no sanctuary from the world, as Jeff is drawn into a local murder investigation involving his supervisor. Four New Yorkers involved in the investigation face moral and ethical dilemmas that explore issues of racism and sexism, and whether it’s ever honorable to do the wrong thing for the right reason.”

The second annual Fall Benefit raised funds to support The Center at West Park, which is a nonprofit performing arts center “committed to diversity, accessibility, affordability, and equal access,” per its website.

“I think a society without art is not much of a society. I wouldn’t want to live in one that didn’t have art in it,” Radnor tells PEOPLE. “And I think art is not just entertainment — it’s how we stand up to power, it’s how we look at ourselves, it’s how we know who we are and what we care about, and how we argue in a civilized way.”
