Xavier Worthy of the Kansas City Chiefs Faces Domestic Violence Allegations: A Shocking Turn of Events

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy has been apprehended in Texas.
The NFL athlete, aged 21, was taken into custody on a felony domestic violence allegation on Friday, March 7, according to online jail logs from Williamson County. This accusation is categorized as a third-degree felony under the Texas penal code.
The records indicate that Worthy has been charged with assault on a family or household member, which involved obstructing their “normal breathing or blood circulation,” defined by the penal code as “applying pressure to the person’s throat or neck or by obstructing the person’s nose or mouth.”
“We are aware and collecting details,” a spokesperson for the Chiefs stated in a message to PEOPLE on Saturday, March 8.
Worthy’s attorneys, Sam Bassett and Chip Lewis, did not promptly respond to PEOPLE’s inquiry for comments.
Should he be found guilty, Worthy may confront a prison term ranging from two to ten years and/or a penalty of up to $10,000, according to the Austin-American Statesman.
Law enforcement informed TMZ — the first outlet to break the story — that Worthy remained in Williamson County jail as of Saturday morning and is being held without bail. He is also allegedly scheduled to appear in front of a judge later that day, the outlet reported.
Worthy’s attorneys released a statement to the The Houston Chronicle and The Austin-American Statesman mentioning they “are aware of the accusation leading to Mr. Worthy’s arrest” and are “collaborating with law enforcement in Williamson County to guarantee they have the benefit of the comprehensive context surrounding this allegation.”
“We will continue to assist the Williamson County authorities as we have complete confidence that their meticulous investigation will affirm Mr. Worthy’s innocence,” the attorneys remarked.
Worthy recently concluded his rookie season with the Chiefs at the 2025 Super Bowl in February. He was selected in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft as the overall 28th pick after breaking the record at the NFL combine for the quickest 40-yard dash, as reported by the Associated Press.
Previously, he played college football for the Texas Longhorns, where he achieved 26 career touchdown receptions, ranking third all-time in Texas history and was fourth all-time in career receiving yards, according to The Austin-American Statesman.
