Christan Slater and his wife Brittany Lopez have been married for over a decade.
The Blink Twice actor first met Lopez while he was on vacation in her home state of Florida. The pair dated for a few years before tying the knot in two intimate ceremonies in December 2013.
Slater and Lopez have since welcomed two children together, a daughter and a son, who join the actor’s two older children, Jaden and Eliana.
While the two generally keep their relationship private, Slater will occasionally share anecdotes about their family life. Lopez also regularly attends red carpet events with the actor, including the 2018 Golden Globes and the Los Angeles premiere of Slater’s film Unfrosted in 2024.

She and Slater met in Florida
Slater and Lopez first met while the actor was on vacation at a resort in the Florida Keys in 2010. During an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon in March 2013, Slater opened up about how he initially thought Lopez was getting engaged to someone else.
Slater said he was eating breakfast when “this girl came walking along with another lady, a slightly older lady, and I was sitting in my usual spot eating my oatmeal that morning,” per Today.
He continued, “This spot, I guess, was famous for people proposing to each other, actually. It was very, very nice. So she’s there with this old lady and, next thing I know, she gets down on one knee and proposes to this older lady.”
Slater then told host Jimmy Fallon he went over to congratulate the pair when he realized his error. “It turns out it was her aunt and she was just trying to help her aunt capture the beauty and the romance of the park. … The next thing I knew, we were hanging out in the Everglades,” he said.
She works in art
Lopez attended Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, where she studied literature and economics, per the Miami Herald.
She previously worked as the director of corporate development at North Miami’s Museum of Contemporary Art, but when Lopez and Slater first met, she was working at an auction house in Miami, per Esquire.
She grew up in Florida
Lopez grew up in Florida as one of three girls, per the Miami Herald. She has two sisters, including a twin who works in the medical field. Her father is Albert Lopez, the owner of General Asphalt.
Despite growing up under normal circumstances, Lopez told the Miami Herald that she “had to import a Hollywood actor to find someone down-to-earth in Miami.”
Slater proposed to Lopez on a trip to Maine
Slater popped the question to Lopez on a trip to Maine in 2012, per the Miami Herald. The actor got down on one knee while the pair were taking a walk on the beach.
“We took a walk. I got on one knee. I got nervous. I mucked it up … I said ‘Would you be mine.’ I had to clarify,” he told the outlet.
Lopez’s family were also on the trip, and Slater involved them in the proposal process.
After asking her father for permission to propose, the actor had Lopez’s twin sister help him size the engagement ring he had found in Russia.
She married Slater in 2013
The couple tied the knot for the first time at a Miami courthouse in early December 2013. Lopez and Slater had visited the courthouse to obtain their marriage license and instead married in an impromptu ceremony.
On Christmas Day, the two hosted another ceremony with close family and friends. While co-hosting Live with Kelly in December 2016, Slater opened up about his nuptials that took place at a bed and breakfast in Illinois.
“We did it Christmas Day to keep it sort of intimate, that way, not everybody could come,” he said. “We had a huge engagement party for, like, the family and the whole thing, but our wedding was actually about 14 people. So that was very small, very intimate, and very lovely.”
She shares two children with Slater

They welcomed their first child together, a daughter, in August 2019. Their second child, a son, was born in July 2024. Slater is also a father to two other children, Jaden and Eliana, whom he welcomed with ex-wife Ryan Haddon.
Speaking with PEOPLE in August 2024, Slater opened up about he’s “a lot more present” while raising his two younger children.
“I think I was more scared of it the first go around and a little bit more confused, and I was very distracted,” he said. “And now, it’s all I really think about, and all I really care about, and all I want to be around. I’m happy to be in that situation.”
Slater once gave Lopez a taxidermied raccoon
Slater once gave Lopez a Christmas present that she would never forget.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in June 2015, Slater revealed that he had gifted his wife a taxidermied raccoon.
“She said she had wanted a raccoon, like a live raccoon,” he said. “She’d heard about somebody that had a pet raccoon and thought it would be really adorable, and I was like, well, clearly, we’re not getting a rabid raccoon. You know, we’re not going to have that running around the house. We have kids … it would be ridiculous.”
Slater added, “So I thought, well, this will be really a cute substitute if I get her like a taxidermied raccoon. It didn’t go well.”
Slater thanked her in his Golden Globes speech in 2016
In January 2016, Slater won his first Golden Globe award for best supporting actor in a television series for his role in Mr. Robot. During his acceptance speech, the actor made sure to give a sweet shout out to his wife.
“My God, thank you for making me the happiest man alive,” Slater said. “You make all my dreams come true.”
The pair had walked the red carpet in matching black ensembles, with Slater sporting a traditional tuxedo and Lopez wearing a long-sleeved lace gown.
