Vanessa Bryant Celebrates 24 Years of Love and Memories on Kobe’s Anniversary

Vanessa Bryant is honoring her late husband, Kobe Bryant.

On Friday, April 18, the philanthropist commemorated their wedding anniversary with a poignant Instagram post.

The couple, who first met in the summer of 1999 and became engaged within six months, married on April 18, 2001. Their wedding took place at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Dana Point, California, with a small private ceremony attended by only about 12 people.

In her tribute, Vanessa marked their 24th anniversary by featuring Kobe’s No. 24 Los Angeles Lakers jersey. “#24. #Anniversary ❤️ @kobebryant ⛪️❤️ 4/18/01 🙏🏽,” the 42-year-old wrote, alongside a photo of her and Kobe at the Rush Hour 2 premiere in July 2001.

After their marriage, the couple welcomed four daughters: Natalia, 22, Bianka, 8, Capri, 5, and the late Gianna. Tragically, Gianna lost her life in a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020, along with her father and seven other individuals. At the time, Gianna was 13 and Kobe was 41.

Just days before the fifth anniversary of Kobe and Gianna’s tragic passing, Vanessa announced the upcoming release of Mamba & Mambacita Forever, a catalog featuring over 100 murals and the stories that celebrate their enduring legacy.

The book is set to launch on August 19, shortly before Kobe Bryant Day, which is observed on August 24. According to a press release, the book “brings together the images and stories” of the public art installations honoring the Bryants.

In the years following the deaths of her “soulmate” and “baby girl,” the family has honored their memories through various memorials. In August, Vanessa and the Lakers unveiled a bronze statue titled “Girl Dad” outside of Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

“This pain is unimaginable [but] you just have to get up and push forward,” she shared in March 2021. “Lying in bed crying isn’t going to change the fact that my family will never be the same again. But getting out of bed and pushing forward is going to make the day better for my girls and for me. So that’s what I do.”
