Paul Rudd Advocates for Kindness in Hollywood

Paul Rudd believes that being pleasant and considerate should be the norm for everyone.

During an interview for WSJ. Magazine in April 2025, the 55-year-old actor emphasized the importance of kindness in the entertainment industry. “It’s beneficial for your spirit,” Rudd remarked, emphasizing his personal ethic: “Treat others as you would like to be treated.”

Speaking to the publication, the star of Death of a Unicorn mentioned, “You’re inquiring about this whole ‘kind’ subject. I don’t see myself as especially kind.” He added, “Simply strive to be courteous. Value other people’s time. Arrive punctually. Avoid being disrespectful, and that’s all.”

The Ant-Man lead also explained to The Guardian in 2015 why he opts for benevolence in his day-to-day interactions.

“Growing up in the Midwest instills a unique mindset,” he observed. “If I’m feeling uncertain, I elevate my smiles and politeness, even if it might not completely mirror my inner feelings. Nevertheless, it’s preferable to be perceived as kind rather than unpleasant.”

In addition to his amiable image, Rudd was honored by PEOPLE magazine as the Sexiest Man Alive in 2021.

Upon receiving the title, Rudd expressed his understanding that upon hearing of his selection, many would be surprised. “This isn’t false modesty. Numerous individuals are more deserving of this recognition than I am.”

The actor also modestly shared that despite his numerous acting accolades, his greatest joy comes from spending time with his wife of 22 years, Julie, and their two children.

“When I reflect on myself, I see myself primarily as a spouse and a parent, that’s where my focus lies,” he told PEOPLE. “During my free time, I simply enjoy being with my family. That’s what I appreciate the most.”
