Triple H Opens Up About His Complex Bond with Vince McMahon During Heartfelt WWE Hall of Fame Speech: A Powerful Statement of Love
Triple H acknowledged that McMahon is not just his “father-in-law,” but also the “grandfather” to his children, which complicates their relationship. (Triple H’s wife is Stephanie McMahon, and they have three daughters together.)
“When someone helps propel you that far, you owe them so much,” Triple H remarked. “He taught me invaluable lessons about what to do and what not to do. I am grateful for all those insights. I love you, Vince, and thank you.”
McMahon originally stepped down as CEO and Chairman of WWE following reports from a leading news outlet that claimed the company’s board was investigating allegations that he had paid $3 million to a former employee to cover up their affair.
A subsequent report suggested that he had made over $12 million in payments to various employees to silence similar claims of sexual misconduct and infidelity.
His daughter, age 48, ultimately took his place on the board, though McMahon made a comeback as executive chairman in January 2023.
In January 2024, a former employee filed a lawsuit against McMahon in federal district court in Connecticut, alleging sex trafficking and sexual battery.
He later resigned from the company, denying all allegations against him, while the lawsuit continues to progress. At the time of the filing, a spokesperson claimed that the complaint was “full of lies, exaggerated false incidents, and a malicious distortion of the truth.”
Despite the controversies surrounding him, several former and current WWE stars, including John Cena, have voiced their support for McMahon. Cena, age 47, stated, “I don’t care who hears it: I love Vince.”
“I’m not dismissing any serious issues that need to be addressed or allegations of any kind, but when I love someone, I love them wholeheartedly,” he added.
As for Triple H, he ascended to the role of WWE’s Executive Vice President before being appointed as the Chief Content Officer after McMahon’s exit, as noted on the company’s website.
His responsibilities encompass overseeing the organization’s “creative writing, talent relations, live events, talent development, and creative services departments.”
