Travis Kelce Kept Calling Billy Eichner ‘Jimmy on the Street’ at an Oscars Party — and Billy Didn’t Dare Correct Him: ‘I Didn’t Know What to Do!’
Billy Eichner is revealing a hilarious misunderstanding between him and Travis Kelce.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Dec. 5, Eichner revealed that he saw the Kansas City Chiefs player with Taylor Swift at Madonna’s Oscars afterparty. After mingling for a while, the comedian revealed Kelce decided to introduce himself.
“All of a sudden, I feel a very strong, like bro-y, pat on my back,” Eichner explained. “It was a masculine man, Jimmy. I turn around. I’m 6’3, right? So I’m not used to looking up and actors are pretty short. So I turn around, and I feel this pat on my back, and I turn around and it’s Travis Kelce.”
“In a very loud, booming voice in a house full of the most famous people in the world, Travis Kelce looks at me and goes, ‘Jimmy on the motherf—ing Street! I love you, man,’” he continued, noting that the show he hosts is called Billy on the Street. “This literally happened, and he’s beaming. He’s so happy to see me. And it’s Travis Kelce, who, I’m not expecting like that he would know who I am at all, and he says, ‘Jimmy on the Street.’”
Eichner laughed about not being able to “bring myself to correct him” because Kelce “said it with such confidence.”
“He looked so happy to see me, like I could tell he was a fan,” Eichner teased. “He’s Travis Kelce, he’s huge. He’s standing there with Taylor Swift, you know. I didn’t know what to do.”
After the interaction, Eichner said he went on with his night, but Kelce continued to pass by and fist-bump him.
“I don’t want to stereotype gay men, but I don’t ordinarily communicate via fist-bump, but I kept doing it,” Eichner quipped.
At one point, Eichner said he thought Kelce might have seen Jimmy Kimmel, who was also there, and gotten their names mixed up, but the late-night host said he didn’t think that was the case.
“I don’t think he talked to me at all,” Kimmel said. “No, I don’t think I did talk to him.”
“I do want to say though, he has an open invitation to appear with me on ‘Jimmy on the Street,’” Eichner added, saying to Kimmel. “You can join us.”
“That way we can really confuse him!” Kimmel replied.
“Yeah, and he was with Taylor, I didn’t get to say hi to her, she was talking to someone, but it would have been funny if I turned to her and said, ‘Oh my God, Sara Bareilles, I love you,’” Eichner joked.
While they were on the topic, Kimmel joked that he seems to see everyone but Madonna at the Oscars party she hosts annually, but Eichner had a quick comeback.
“We’re seeing a pattern of no one coming up to you and saying ‘hello,’ Jimmy,” the comedian said.
Billy on the Street is streaming in full on Max.
