The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ Layla Taylor Says She ‘Recently’ Experienced Her First Orgasm (Exclusive)

Layla Taylor is experiencing new things in a new chapter of her life.

Layla, 23, is one of the eight women to make up the cast of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Speaking with PEOPLE about how the women tackle the subject of sex, Layla says she’s happy to be part of a group of women “normalizing” these conversations.

“It’s not something you talk about on the daily. I think it’s something that should be, though. I think it’s something that should be normalized in a marriage — a happy, healthy marriage,” she tells PEOPLE.

She continues: “In my case, I shared that I never experienced an orgasm until very recently, at the age of 23, which is crazy. So I think just having those open conversations will just normalize certain things and make women feel more comfortable and open with their sexuality, which I think is amazing.”

In a scene from the Hulu series, Layla admits to the women that despite being a divorced mom of two, she had yet t experience an orgasm.

The topic comes up during a conversation among the castmates about whether or not Whitney Leavitt should advertise a vibrator on her social media page.

“Honestly, I think Whitney should take the deal for the vibrator,” Layla says in a confessional.

In conversation with the women, Demi Engemann points out, “I think because of the shame and lack of knowledge, I think a lot of women don’t even orgasm.”

Layla — who was 22 when the episode was filmed — then raises her hands, saying, “I’m deadass, never in my life.”

Layla explains that she was married for three years — from ages 19 to 21 — and, “I’ve only really ever dated about four people so that’s not a lot of time to discover yourself.”

When asked if she has ever tried a toy, she says yes, adding, “Anytime I get close to the feeling of it, I get scared, and I stop. Two kids, 22, never in my life.”

“I feel like I’m missing out,” she admits.
