Catelynn Lowell Baltierra and Tyler Baltierra persist in sharing their adoption journey with unflinching honesty.

Having placed their firstborn daughter for adoption in 2009, the reality stars recently addressed ongoing tensions with adoptive parents Brandon and Teresa. During a candid discussion on PodcastOne’s Cate & Ty: Break It Down, the 33-year-old Teen Mom alum and her husband explained their two-year visitation gap with their biological daughter, now 15.

“I shared an Instagram photo showing our group walking from behind, then Tyler posted another featuring him, Carly, and Nova from the same angle,” Catelynn revealed, referencing their most recent meeting in 2022. The couple later received unexpected feedback about these seemingly innocent snapshots.

“We reminded them about our prior agreement regarding photos showing the back of her head,” Catelynn continued. “Brandon clarified their frustration stemmed from MTV’s inability to monetize the images afterward.”

Tyler interjected, “Essentially, we’d undermined their exclusive content deal by posting first.”

During a separate podcast episode, the couple addressed persistent rumors about their adoption decision. “People suggesting I’d prioritize a relationship over my child baffles me,” Catelynn expressed emotionally. “They assume I lack maternal feelings or regrets.”

“The idea that I’d issue ultimatums about adoption is ludicrous,” Tyler affirmed, supporting his wife of 14 years.

Parents to Rya (3), Vaeda (6), and Novalee (10), the Michigan natives have documented their strained communication with Carly’s family on Teen Mom: The Next Chapter. Recent attempts to send childhood mementos were labeled “excessive” by the adoptive parents.

“We regularly update them about our daughters’ milestones,” Catelynn shared. Tyler noted their messages often go unanswered, revealing: “We discovered Cate’s been blocked without explanation.”

The couple consulted their adoption counselor about this communication breakdown. “They’re effectively closing our open adoption agreement without justification,” Tyler lamented.
