Tay and Taylor Lautner Reveal 1 Boundary They Set While Balancing Working Together and Married Life (Exclusive)
Taylor Lautner and his wife, Tay Lautner (née Dome), share almost everything, from a home to a hit podcast — not to mention the same name. And while both spouses appreciate all of their overlap, they still find ways to ensure their relationship stays healthy.
Speaking to PEOPLE as two of 2024’s Creators of the Year, the Lautners explain that they have a realistic understanding of how to best balance their work hosting The Squeeze and their lives as a married couple. Tay, 27, explains that their key focus is “figuring out when to stop talking about work,” since it’s such a massive part of both of their lives.
“I feel like that’s maybe one of the only hard things to do, [making] sure we turn that off,” she notes. “Trying to make sure we set that boundary of let’s cozy up on the couch, watch a movie, not think about work.”
Agreeing with his wife of two years, Taylor, 32, adds that taking moments for themselves is also a crucial way to maintain their unwavering connection.
“I think it’s important that we do put in somewhat of an effort into having independent time, because we obviously love each other and would spend every waking second with the other if we could, and we almost do,” the Twilight star tells PEOPLE. “I think we probably could put more of an effort into just having our independent time.”
Still, all of their boundaries are formed within the context of how much they adore teaming up every day.
“It’s so awesome we get to live together, work together,” says Tay. “We really are best friends, and so it’s really cool that we get to enjoy all these really cool experiences together.”
The Squeeze premiered in early 2023, but Taylor says this year has felt markedly different, especially considering their growth as people and professionals.
“We’ve spent the last couple years, maybe two to three years, figuring out what we want to be doing, where we fit in this world, what we’re passionate about, what we stand for,” the Valentine’s Day actor shares. “It feels like, finally, in 2024 that all became fruitful. It finally all came to a head and we are doing what we want to be doing and feel like we are in the right place.”
