“Sutton Foster Finds Strength in Self-Mothering While Raising Her 7-Year-Old Daughter”
“Even more accurate now that I’m a mother. I’m nurturing myself concurrently. Every evening, when I tuck my daughter in, I express, ‘I adore you. I’m exceptionally proud of you.’ And now, I convey this to myself as well.”
Foster mentions that while gazing at her reflection, she ensures to recite this affirmation to herself, promoting self-appreciation.
“Can you challenge yourself to love yourself as deeply as you love your offspring? And my reaction was like, ‘What?’ The notion was novel to me,” Foster states. “So, I gaze into my own eyes, and I contemplate, ‘Can I cherish myself above all else?’ Because fundamentally, that’s what we all desire. Correct? We yearn for affection. Discovering that, so that under any circumstance, I am immensely proud. Immensely proud of myself.”

Additionally, in the podcast, Foster discloses that her daughter Emily is already showing an interest in the field of music, just like her.
“She exhibits a definite attraction to artistic endeavors. Singing and writing are her passions,” Foster exclaims. “Her father is a writer as well, hence she is incredibly creative, enjoying penning down and fabricating tales.”
The 7-year-old also loves accompanying her mother to the theater, standing backstage while observing her mother’s enchanting performances.
“Accompanying me to the theater brings her immense joy. During my time in [Once Upon a] Mattress in New York, she would spend Saturday afternoons with me at the theater,” Foster recounts. “And as soon as the show commenced, she would exclaim, ‘Increase the volume, mommy. Increase it.'”
“She was uninterested in watching, only keen on listening. It was genuinely heartwarming,” the proud mother concludes.
