- Audiences will experience dinosaur mayhem when the film premieres July 2025.
The prehistoric adventure Jurassic World Rebirth promises non-stop excitement.
During Wednesday’s CinemaCon event (April 2, 2025) in Nevada’s entertainment capital, Johansson shared exclusive behind-the-scenes material from the legendary franchise that began with 1993’s groundbreaking Jurassic Park.
Director Gareth Edwards captivated the Caesars Palace audience during Universal Pictures’ showcase, joined by co-star Mahershala Ali representing Focus Features productions.
“For over a decade, I’ve persistently campaigned to join this iconic series,” revealed the Oscar-nominated actress, humorously adding she would’ve “played a Stegosaurus wrangler” if necessary.
Edwards described helming the seventh franchise installment as “a childhood fantasy realized,” referencing his youthful obsession with Spielberg’s original masterpiece.
“My Jurassic addiction began early – I compulsively rewatched the first film dozens of times annually,” the director quipped. “This cinematic therapy session finally cured my decades-long condition.”
Johansson emphasized Edwards’ commitment to authenticity, revealing filming occurred in remote wilderness areas to heighten the movie’s visceral impact. The director aims to create “an immersive prehistoric thrill ride.”
The ensemble cast features Ali alongside Jonathan Bailey, Luna Blaise, and David Iacano, with Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and Rupert Friend completing the adventurous team.

Johansson portrays tactical specialist Zora Bennett, tasked with procuring DNA samples from colossal prehistoric creatures. Her mission collides with shipwrecked civilians on a dino-infested island, uncovering dangerous genetic experimentation secrets.
Koepp’s return completes the circle, having scripted both Spielberg’s original adaptation of Crichton’s novel and its 1997 follow-up The Lost World.
CinemaCon’s programming slate also featured sneak peeks at Scream 7, Marvel’s Fantastic Four reboot, and Tom Cruise’s latest Mission Impossible installment.
