Sara Carton of Love Is Blind Unveils the Truth Behind Her ‘Love Square’ with Joey Leveille: Are They an Item Now?

Sara Carton is being open about her romantic status following Love Is Blind.

In a guest appearance on The Viall Files podcast on Thursday, March 13, 29-year-old Sara responded to rumors that she and her LIB co-star Joey Leveille are currently involved. Merely days after viewers witnessed her decline the proposal from then-fiancé Ben Mezzenga at the ceremonial setting of the show’s season 8 conclusion, Sara emphasized that she’s not prepared to leap into a new relationship just yet.

“I’ve seen this a few times online over the past 24 hours — to clarify, Joey and I are not in a romantic relationship,” she stated, later conveying, “I really don’t have the ability to contemplate a relationship.”

Nevertheless, Sara recognized why observers might presume they are romantically linked, pointing out that they developed a unique connection prior to ultimately getting engaged to other individuals.

“There was a love square involving myself, Monica [Danús], Ben, and Joey,” she elaborated. “We were all communicating with each other until the second to last day in the pods. Naturally, in that type of situation and environment, connections with people happen. I feel that Joey and I indeed established a truly wonderful friendship.”

Like Sara and Ben, Monica and Joey exited the pods engaged, yet their wedding concluded with Monica proclaiming, “I don’t.” After filming concluded, Sara mentioned she hadn’t maintained contact with Joey for five months until he came to see her in Nashville with a few friends.

“We called ourselves the Yee-Haw Crew. It was such an enjoyable time, all from the cast,” she recounted. “We became remarkably close simply due to the mutual support, understanding what each of us faced, and being able to be there for one another has been incredibly significant to me.”

Looking to the future, Sara conceded that she couldn’t completely dismiss the idea of a romantic link with Joey, but for the time being, she’s maintaining a platonic relationship.

“Overall, with this entire situation, I feel a closeness with Joey,” she revealed. “I cherish our relationship, but I feel extremely well-supported by everyone involved. I’m just very thankful to have met him. We certainly share a friendship. We are definitely not dating.”

“I don’t know what the future may bring,” she playfully teased with a smile.

Sara concluded her LIB adventure uncertain about her compatibility with Ben, expressing at the altar that she has “always desired a partner who is on the same wavelength.” He then proposed they remain together and keep “growing,” and she disclosed to PEOPLE last week that they did just that — until he vanished from contact.

“After the wedding day, with all my doubts, I realized, I was like, I can’t say ‘yes’ to a marriage today,” she reminisced. “But naturally, I’m continuously wishing that things could work or maybe once the chaos of not living a normal life is over, but later, being able to return to our routines… I was considering that it might work.”

“We continued living together for a week or two post-wedding. And one day, he just cut me off,” she revealed. “We discussed being together, and that one day… he removed me from Find My Friends. I didn’t hear much from him because he was out with friends enjoying drinks, which is fine. He was going to a Twins game, having fun. But I hadn’t heard much from him, saw that he removed me from Find My Friends, and that was when it told me the most.”

It was at that moment that Sara said she felt she had “the most clarity about who Ben is,” and she recognized it was time to move on. “I was taken aback and felt incredibly deceived that he simply waited to drop me.”

“But I mean, it all made sense with everything that was surfacing throughout filming,” she continued. “He said, ‘Oh, I thought we were broken up.’ I replied, ‘That was never the discussion.’ It was surreal. It was insane.”
