Sabrina Carpenter’s Designer Reveals What She’s Putting in the Star’s Vintage, Victorian-Inspired Home (Exclusive)
Sabrina Carpenter may often get compared to a life-size Polly Pocket, but there’s not a single piece of plastic furniture in her new home, her interior designer tells PEOPLE.
Celebrity designer Francesca Grace reveals she’s outfitting the “Espresso” singer’s space in an ultra-feminine style, but the vibe is more vintage and Victorian-inspired, than cutesy ’90s coquette.
“There’s definitely no plastics,” Grace says with a laugh while speaking to PEOPLE exclusively from her L.A. office. “She’s not funky like that. She loves vintage and beautiful pink and florals.
“All this wallpaper behind me is for her,” she adds, gesturing to a stack of massive rolls in shades of powder pink. “It’s just so much stuff that I love.”
Carpenter recently posted a sneak peek of her kitchen nook, complete with a orange-and-white striped floral print wall covering from House of Hackney and ruffled and striped pillows by Alice Palmer & Co, on Instagram.
The project, which Carpenter and Grace embarked on eight months ago, is almost complete, the designer says. And a lot has changed since they started.
“When she hired me, she was really famous, but this last eight months is when she became probably the number one pop star in the world,” says the interiors pro, who has also worked with Justin Bieber, Hilary Duff and Alicia Keys.
As a result they’ve had to adapt from a slow and steady collaborative process to the singer being “on the road 24/7. She’s the busiest human I’ve ever witnessed,” says Grace. Carpenter is currently in the middle of her Short n’ Sweet world tour and recently took performed at the VMAs, where she took home the prize for 2024 Song of the Year.
Luckily, Grace says, “She trusts me because [her taste] is the same [style] that I would choose for myself. I’ve showed her my house and she’s seen the vibe that I usually do, and she’s like, ‘I want that.'”
The designer, who got her start doing home staging for luxury realtors and on HGTV’s Fix My Flip, custom made many of the pieces in Carpenter’s home. They have a Victorian feel with plenty of florals and warm earth tones like green and amber velvets complementing the girlier notes.
One thing you will never find in Carpenters home is a blank space. “As a creative person, she doesn’t like a white box,” says Grace. “We’ve wallpapered every single room basically at this point. She loves a print.”
While Grace says Carpenter has no plans to show off the home to the public any time soon, she’s been overjoyed just to see her work in the background of the star’s Instagram posts.
“Just to be designing her house, I feel very special,” she says.
