Noah Cyrus Credits Mother Tish Cyrus for Inspiring Her Early Marriage Dreams

Mother-daughter duo Tish Cyrus and Noah Cyrus recently came together to discuss the topic of marriage.

Despite ongoing rumors of family drama, 25-year-old Noah joined her 57-year-old mother on the April 17 episode of Tish’s Sorry We’re Cyrus podcast to talk about their experiences with tying the knot. Noah, who announced her engagement to fashion designer Pinkus in June 2023, mentioned that her mother significantly influenced her desire to marry at an “early” age.

“I always wanted to get married. Like, every relationship I’ve had, I’ve thought about marrying them,” Noah noted. “My reasoning was simple: ‘Well, my mom had her first child by the time she was 21.’ I don’t see that as an ‘oopsie age.’ I perceive it as, ‘I’ve been working since I was 15. Why couldn’t I have a child in my early 20s, or why couldn’t I get married in my early 20s?’ That has always been something I really desired.”

Tish married her ex-husband, Billy Ray Cyrus, in 1993, and they announced their divorce in 2022.

In their statement, they said, “After 30 years, five amazing children, and a lifetime of memories, we have decided to go our separate ways — not with sadness, but with love in our hearts. We have grown up together, raised a family we can be proud of, and it is now time to create our own paths.”

Along with Noah, the former couple has a daughter, Miley, 32, and a son, Braison, 30. Billy Ray, 63, also adopted Tish’s two older children, Brandi and Trace, from a previous relationship. Additionally, he has a son, Christopher Cody, 33, from another relationship.

“My life changed so much,” Tish reflected on the podcast. “I devoted myself entirely to raising kids. It’s surreal to see you all grown up and so independent now. It’s just so strange.”

Having dedicated her life to motherhood, Tish is now on a journey to explore “who [she is] and what [her] dreams are” beyond being a mom.

“I really have to figure out what I’m going to do with my life,” Tish said.

Two years ago, in August 2023, Tish married Dominic Purcell, 55. By March 2024, a source revealed that Noah “was offended” by Tish’s marriage to Purcell, which she did not attend, due to Noah and Purcell’s past “friends with benefits” relationship.

“They stopped seeing each other, and then Tish began dating him,” the source explained. “Tish was aware that he had previously been involved with Noah.”

Although Noah and Purcell had concluded their arrangement before Tish started dating him, the source mentioned that “Tish never gave Noah the chance to discuss any of this prior to their marriage.”

In the meantime, another source indicated in February 2024 that Noah remained supportive of her father, Billy Ray, amid the divorce.

“Noah is very loyal to Billy Ray,” the source shared. “She and Billy Ray have always shared a close bond.”

Now, it seems that any potential rift between Noah and Tish has been resolved. On the podcast, Noah expressed that she still needs her “mommy so bad” and reassured listeners that she can always “call her through anything.”

The singer also shared her appreciation for Tish’s relationship with Pinkus.

“It’s really lovely because my fiancé and my mom have forged a close bond,” Noah said. “I cherish that greatly, especially since my past boyfriends didn’t have that connection with her. My first one tried, but the rest were just, like, [a] plane crash. We made it through, and now I’m with a nice, little German man.”
