Naomi Watts and Her Pup Steal the Spotlight in Adorable Polka Dot Ensemble at NYC Premiere of The Friend!

Naomi Watts brought along her furry companion Bing to the premiere of her film, The Friend, in New York City!

At 56, Watts coordinated beautifully with the canine — her co-star in the film — dressed in a white dress with an open back adorned with black furry spots that echoed the Great Dane’s fur.

Bing was the highlight of the event on March 24, enjoying a solo moment on the red carpet and then lying down while Watts affectionately petted and treated him, a charming scene caught on camera.

The actress eagerly expressed her admiration for her canine co-star, stating to PEOPLE at the premiere that it was “incredible” to collaborate with Bing.

“Every day he contributed something unique and astonished us at every turn,” she remarks. “There’s an old saying about not working with animals or children, it takes more time and more money, but he fulfilled all expectations from the script and then some.”

“He truly amazed us, even performing seemingly impossible tasks,” Watts added. “It was a delight to witness. He’s such a soulful dog.”

Alongside Bing, Watts features in The Friend with her friend Bill Murray, who co-starred in St. Vincent. She portrays a novelist in New York City unexpectedly responsible for caring for her friend Walter’s (Murray) Great Dane following his passing.

“After the sudden death of her closest friend and mentor, Iris, a novelist and writing instructor in New York, takes on the responsibility of his literary legacy and his cherished Great Dane, Apollo,” reads the official movie synopsis.

A few days prior to the premiere, Watts posted a video on Instagram showing the moment she completed her last scene for The Friend.

“That was Naomi’s final shot!” a crew member was heard saying, leading to applause and cheers. Bing then barked and howled as Watts beamed, followed by clips of Bing bidding farewell to other cast members from the film.

“Howls all around! THE FRIEND was an incredibly special experience to film. Every time an actor finished their part, Bing would give us a unique send-off 🐶,” Watts wrote in the caption. “#TheFriendMovie premieres in select theaters on March 28 and nationwide on April 4. The Friend is set to premiere in theaters in New York City on March 28 and across the nation on April 4.
