We Live in Time’s world premiere will take place at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival on September 6.
“Almut (Pugh) and Tobias (Garfield) are brought together in a surprise encounter that changes their lives,” teases the movie’s official synopsis.
“Through snapshots of their life together – falling for each other, building a home, becoming a family – a difficult truth is revealed that rocks its foundation.
“As they embark on a path challenged by the limits of time, they learn to cherish each moment of the unconventional route their love story has taken, in filmmaker John Crowley’s decade-spanning, deeply moving romance.”
In the first-look image, Pugh and Garfield can be seen laughing together whilst strolling through a park with coffee.
We Live In Time has Benedict Cumberbatch among its executive producers, with the screenplay written by Olivier award-winning playwright Nick Payne.
It doesn’t currently have a release date but director Crowley hinted that the film is likely to drop in UK cinemas “in the autumn” during an interview on the UCC Talking Pictures Podcast.
The film sees Crowley reunite with Garfield. They previously worked together on the 2007 drama Boy A.
“He’s still the same creature he was, but craft-wise he has very, very sophisticatedly developed the way he works, which is incredible to see and a gift on set,” Crowley said of working with Garfield again.
The film does not yet have a release date.
