Mike Tyson Salutes George Foreman: A Legacy That Will Endure Forever at 76

Robert Griffin III posted on Twitter, “Rest in Peace to the ILLUSTRIOUS George Foreman who departed at 76. More than simply a boxing World Heavyweight Champion, Olympic Gold Medal Winner, and creator of the George Foreman Grill. He embodied a Man of Faith, a Preacher, and the essence of Strength. Prayers for Big George and his family.”
His message featured a montage of the renowned boxer’s knockouts.
“The Champion has passed,” tweeted Loni Love. “Bigger than life in many aspects, George Foreman enchanted the hearts & minds of sports enthusiasts & carved a spot on the kitchen counter of countless households. A two-time heavyweight champion, businessperson, author, and clergyman.”
Richard Roeper reflected on one of Foreman’s finest bouts: “RIP to George Foreman, a legendary presence in boxing and popular culture. As a 7-2 underdog against Joe Frazier in 1973, Foreman floored Frazier six times. The initial knockdown led to one of the most unforgettable calls ever, with Howard Cosell declaring, ‘Down goes Frazier!'”
Foreman’s passing was revealed on his official Instagram page, accompanied by a picture of him beaming while surrounded by those closest to him.
“Our hearts are shattered. With immense grief, we share the news of the passing of our cherished George Edward Foreman Sr. who quietly left us on March 21, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones,” the post stated.
Although he was recognized for his achievements in the boxing ring and later the George Foreman Grill, his family cherished him as “a devoted preacher, a loving spouse, a nurturing father, and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather,” who led his life with intent.
“A philanthropist, an Olympian, and two-time heavyweight champion of the globe, he was held in high regard — a beacon of goodness, a man of discipline, conviction, and a guardian of his legacy, striving diligently to uphold his good name— for his family,” the touching tribute continued.
Foreman has been wedded a total of five occasions, to Adrienne Calhoun (from 1971 to 1974); Cynthia Lewis (from 1977 to 1979); Sharon Goodson (from 1981 to 1982); Andrea Skeete (from 1982 to 1985) and to Mary Joan Martelly, his spouse since 1985.
He is survived by his wife and eleven children.
