“Melinda French Gates Reveals ‘Friendly’ Dynamic with Ex Bill Gates: ‘We Still Cross Paths at Family Gatherings’ (Exclusive)”

Melinda French Gates describes her current dynamic with former spouse Bill Gates as amicable despite their separation.

“Prioritizing family milestones for my children and grandchildren remains central to my life,” the 60-year-old philanthropist reveals to PEOPLE in this week’s edition.

The ex-couple, married for 27 years before their 2021 divorce, co-parent three adult children – Jennifer, 28, Phoebe, 22, and Rory, 25 – along with two granddaughters through Jennifer: Leila, 2, and infant Mia.

While both maintain Seattle residences, their offspring have all relocated to the Eastern Seaboard.

“Naturally,” Melinda notes, “this means Bill and I occasionally cross paths at family celebrations like graduation ceremonies.”

She adds: “Our interactions during these events remain pleasant.”

Both parties have embraced new relationships post-divorce. Two years after their split, reports emerged of Bill’s romance with Paula Hurd, 63.

The tech widow, whose late husband Mark Hurd led Oracle, has since accompanied the Microsoft visionary to high-profile gatherings including Jeff Bezos’ engagement celebration and sports tournaments like the BNP Paribas Open.

During recent memoir promotions, Bill addressed his much-discussed remark about their divorce being his “greatest regret” to The Times of London.

“While the separation was difficult, I’d choose the same path again for our children and the foundation’s global impact,” he stated, referencing the philanthropic organization Melinda co-established in 2000 before her 2023 departure.

“I’ve moved forward, and Melinda’s thriving,” Bill continued. “My work continues to fulfill me – I’ve no complaints.”

When questioned about these statements during an Elle interview, Melinda quipped: “You’ve apparently researched this more thoroughly than I have.”

Melinda confirms she’s also found new romantic happiness, though prefers keeping her partner’s identity private. This follows paparazzi photos showing her with 48-year-old tech executive Philip Vaughn in Manhattan.
