Mark Wahlberg Shows Off His Ripped Body on the Beach in the Caribbean — See Exclusive Pics!
Mark Wahlberg is taking the term “beach body” to the next level.
In photos shared exclusively with PEOPLE, the actor, 53, was spotted showing off an ultra-muscular physique while vacationing on the shores of Barbados on Saturday, Dec. 21. He can be seen relaxing, mingling with locals and waiving to the camera while on a stroll.
One of the pics shows The Fighter star toweling off after a dip in the water.
Another features him emerging from the ocean in aviators, chiseled shoulders and biceps on full display.
Yet another showcases the Arthur the King actor in a navy blue baseball cap, matching T-shirt and sunglasses as he walks past some reclining beach chairs.
While it is unclear whether Wahlberg is maintaining peak physical condition for a specific role, the actor has previously been candid about the importance of physical fitness in life — especially as it relates to longevity.
“Before, it was about aesthetics when trying to get in shape,” the actor told PEOPLE exclusively in 2023. “Now, I want to live a long time.”
“I encourage everybody, even if you just work out for 10 minutes, you’re going to feel better. We’re all very fortunate and blessed. You want to live as long as possible. You want to be able to move, and certainly, you got to do it,” he added.
Earlier that same year, the Wahlburgers cofounder exclusively told PEOPLE that he has admittedly been forced to adjust his workouts with age.
“I’m starting to realize that I’m 51 years old. I need to stay in my lane and know that I don’t have to try to out-lift everybody or outwork everybody,” he said. “I just have to push myself a little bit more and continue to just try to drag this beautiful life out as long as I can.”
Getting specific, he shared, “I target muscle groups. I don’t have to lift as heavy, but I have to have better form, a longer hold and a longer squeeze,” adding, “I just wish I would’ve listened to the people who were trying to tell me these things and give me this kind of advice 20 years ago.”
The Boston-born action star also admitted that being an actor and transforming his body for different roles definitely impacts his life and overall routines.
“It has kind of dictated what I’ve been doing and how I’ve approached the upcoming four or five months [of life] every year for the last 20-some-odd years,” he said, noting, “I mean, I’ve fluctuated my weight from 215 lbs. to 137 lbs., which is pretty extreme.” (Wahlberg put on 30 lbs. for 2022’s Father Stu, revealing that he probably wouldn’t do it again as “It took quite a toll on me.”).
