Maren Morris Shares Rare Photo of Her Son Hayes Playing Baseball
Maren Morris is giving fans a rare glimpse into her son Hayes’ life.
On Saturday, Sept. 21, the country star, 34, shared a photo on her Instagram Stories that featured Hayes, 4, in his baseball uniform at a game.
Sporting a red jersey with his last name and the number 3, as well as some matching red socks, Hayes held a bat and appeared to be getting ready to swing.
Although Morris is often private about Hayes’ life, and covers up his face with emojis or films him from behind when she shares photos of him on social media, she has previously opened up about their special mother-son bond.
Last month, the “Girl” singer spoke with PEOPLE about bringing Hayes — whom she shares with ex-husband Ryan Hurd — on the road with her for the RSVP Redux Tour.
“He loves being on the road, which has been so much fun this summer, having Hayes out. I don’t know, we feel like partners in crime a little bit, and we’re going to be on this bus journey for forever,” Morris said. “It just makes me so happy when he’s out and the fact that he loves it out here so much.”
She also spoke about her new EP Intermission and revealed that one track on the album — “Because, Of Course” — is a “love letter” to her son.
“I wrote it about him,” she explained. “It’s obviously my promise to him: Every love like that, especially a mother’s should be unconditional, but I like that when people listen to the song, it could be taken as a romantic song, but I didn’t write it about that. It was just about love itself.”
At the time, Morris also opened up about her divorce from Hurd, which was finalized in January 2024, just a few months before she came out as bisexual.
“I feel like there’s so many emotions when you have a child with somebody and the relationship doesn’t pan out and you just have to put on a brave face and a consistent face for your baby,” she told PEOPLE.
Reflecting on how their divorce may have impacted Hayes, she added, “I think he’s gone through a lot and there’s I’m sure a lot of confusion because he’s so little. But also, I feel like Ryan and I have done a really great job at just being great parents for him.”
Despite her difficulties over the past year, Morris also told PEOPLE that Hayes “definitely brought me through a lot of this year.”
“Whether he knows it or not,” she continued, “I doubt he does, but I just want to be a good mom to him.”
