O.J. Simpson’s Estate Snubs Kim Kardashian’s $15K Bid for Robert Kardashian Sr.’s Priceless Inscribed Bible

Kim Kardashian faced rejection while trying to acquire a family keepsake.

In his role as the administrator of O.J. Simpson’s estate, Malcolm LaVergne is tasked with liquidating Simpson’s assets to settle outstanding obligations. The founder of SKIMS, 44, reached out with an offer of $15,000 for a bible that bore the inscription of her deceased father, Robert Kardashian Sr. However, LaVergne informed PEOPLE that he turned down Kim’s proposal as the artifact was already bound by a legal contract for auctioning.

“The sum is the reason I had no option, as there’s no way I would allocate $15,000 of estate funds — why would I expend $15,000 in legal fees — only to transfer it to Kim for $15,000?” LaVergne elaborates. “That’s a zero-sum scenario. It’s a poor business strategy. Had Kim proposed $150,000, we would’ve sought court approval to finalize this outside the auction process.”

“Kim has the option to bid for it online,” he adds about the item, which currently holds a leading bid of $9,800. “She might even acquire it for less than the 15 grand, so we’ll see.”

Beyond the emotional significance that the bible carries for the Kardashians, LaVergne highlights that Robert Sr.’s personal note was dated June 18, 1994 — the day following Simpson’s arrest and accusation of murdering his ex-spouse, Nicole Simpson, alongside her companion, Ronald Goldman.

“O.J., this book will serve you well,” Robert Sr. penned in the message. “God cares for you and will reach out to you through these words. Engage with this book daily. God has a specific plan for your life. You are his child, and he will utilize you once more. I care for you, and so does God.”

TMZ was the first to reveal this information.

The paternal figure of the Kardashian clan consistently supported Simpson, eventually serving as his defense lawyer during the notorious murder trial, which ended with Simpson being found not guilty on all charges. He was later adjudged liable in a civil case in 1997.

Robert Sr. passed away in September 2003 at the age of 59, merely eight weeks post his diagnosis of esophageal cancer. Simpson encountered legal troubles once more in 2008 and spent nine years behind bars for armed robbery and kidnapping. He succumbed to prostate cancer in April 2024 at the age of 76.

Kim, alongside her sisters Kourtney and Khloé, brother Robert Jr., and their mother Kris Jenner, has consistently voiced their commitment to maintaining Robert Sr.’s legacy. Notably, Kim chose to pursue a legal career akin to her father’s, successfully passing the baby bar exam in 2021 and advocating for reform in criminal justice throughout the years.

In her 2020 Oxygen documentary, Kim Kardashian West: The Justice Project, she reflected on how her legal endeavors have enabled her to feel emotionally linked to her father.

“There are moments when I might feel exasperated and be studying late into the night and wonder how he managed it all with four kids, likely experiencing some of the same challenges that I am facing,” she expressed. “So, it would be thrilling to converse with him about that, and I know he would be immensely proud.”
