Lindsay Lohan Lives ‘Without Regrets’ After Learning from Her Past: ‘I Really Have Seen It All’
Lindsay Lohan is looking ahead to a bright future.
The Our Little Secret actress, who got her start as the impressive child star of 1998’s The Parent Trap, said in a new interview with Flaunt magazine that she feels a “huge sense of gratitude” to have “lived through so many different experiences in life.”
Lohan, now 38, added, “I really have seen it all. Also, it’s made me so much stronger. It’s made me such a strong woman. I feel I’ve empowered myself in a lot of ways and that feels great. I know myself now at this age, better than ever.”
The star, who has previously been candid about moving on from her past mistakes, currently lives in Dubai with husband Bader Shammas and their baby son Luai.
“I live from today. My life every day is a new day. I live looking forward towards the future,” she told Flaunt. “I live without regrets. I think everything that has happened, I’ve learned from, and I’m grateful for that. Because, you know, everything is a lesson in life.”
Lohan added, “It’s better not just to toss those lessons aside because you never know … you always want to learn from anything in the past.”
These days, Lohan wants “absolutely everything I do to be in line with my values.”
“Starting my own business and producing more things that I love are part of where I want my future to take me,” said the actress, who is also reuniting with Jamie Lee Curtis in next year’s Freakier Friday.
Lohan told Bustle earlier this year that she removed herself from Hollywood for years after she felt negative scrutiny was overshadowing her work.
“I feel like some of [my work] got overshadowed by paparazzi and all that kind of stuff when I was younger, and that’s kind of annoying,” she said. “I wish that part didn’t happen. I feel like that kind of took on a life of its own. So that’s why I wanted to disappear. I was like, ‘Unless there’s no story here, they’re not going to focus on just my work.’ ”
The Mean Girls alum also said to the outlet that she doesn’t plan on doing a tell-all book or documentary about her life anytime soon.
“I congratulate all the people that [have done that]. I think it’s good that they do what they want to take their power back. When I’m ready and I accomplish all of the things I want to accomplish, then I’ll maybe consider doing it,” said Lohan. “But my story isn’t finished yet, so I’m not in a rush to share my side of it.”
Our Little Secret is now streaming on Netflix.
