Kristen Stewart Joins Ex Michael Angarano and Wife Maya Erskine for a Stylish Celebration of Their New Film Sacramento

Kristen Stewart has reconnected with her former boyfriend Michael Angarano in a distinctive manner.
Stewart, 34, and Angarano, 37, were seen posing with Angarano’s spouse Maya Erskine at a special showing of the film Sacramento, which took place at Los Angeles’ Vista Theatre. The movie initially debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival in June 2024 and is set to be released in theaters on April 11. All three actors star in the movie alongside Michael Cera.
Sacramento is a comedic road trip film that narrates the story of two friends embarking on an unplanned journey from Los Angeles to Sacramento. Angarano collaborated with Chris Smith to co-write the screenplay and also took on directing and acting roles.
Stewart and Angarano were in a romantic relationship during their teenage years, dating from 2005 to 2009. The two actors met while co-starring in the 2004 coming-of-age film Speak. Stewart later entered a relationship with her Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson, which lasted until 2013.
Angarano wed Erskine in an intimate ceremony in 2024, and the couple welcomed their first child, a son named Leon Frederick, in 2021, followed by a daughter in 2024. Stewart is presently engaged to screenwriter Dylan Meyer, whom she has been with since 2019.
Angarano shared with Variety in June 2024 that Stewart was his preferred choice for the role. “I’ve known Kristen since we were around 12 years old,” he remarked.
He further explained, “we didn’t write it while specifically considering Kristen. However, when producing any project, you receive a list of stars that the financiers are eager to see in the film. Kristen was undoubtedly at the very top of that list. We were certain she would excel in the role and she has a track record of taking on smaller films like this.”
Although none of the principal cast hail from Sacramento, Angarano drew inspiration from road signs throughout Los Angeles that prompted travelers to make a trip there. He elaborated to Variety, stating, “we had just visited a batting cage and were on our return drive when we spotted the sign and spontaneously decided to play a game of chicken.”
He added, “it was like, ‘hey, want to go to Sacramento?’ ‘Yeah, let’s do it. Why not?’ And it evolved into a sort of inside joke. What if you simply chose a random location and traveled there for no particular reason?”
The film will be released in theaters across the United States on April 11.
