King Charles Expresses Heartfelt Easter Wishes and Strength Amid Cancer Battle

King Charles is sharing a message of love this Easter season.

The 76-year-old monarch, currently undergoing treatment for cancer, released a heartfelt Easter statement on Thursday, April 17, just before he and his wife, Queen Camilla, attended a traditional royal event.

In his message, Charles emphasized the universal and boundary-less nature of humanitarian work across various religions, backgrounds, and beliefs. His lifelong commitment to fostering understanding between different faiths is a recurring theme in his public life.

“There are three virtues that the world still needs — faith, hope, and love. And the greatest of these is love,” he wrote, reflecting the fundamental message of love found in all religious teachings.

Britain's King Charles III and Queen Camilla wave from the balcony of the Town Hall of Ravenna during their state visit to Italy on April 10, 2025.

Opening his message, he noted, “One of the puzzles of our humanity is how we are capable of both great cruelty and great kindness.”

He continued by describing the contrasting images of “terrible human suffering” followed by “heroic acts in war-torn countries where humanitarians of all kinds risk their lives to protect others.”

Charles expressed his deep admiration for those working in humanitarian fields, acknowledging their resilience, courage, and compassion.

The love that Jesus demonstrated, he remarked, “reflected the Jewish ethic of caring for the stranger and those in need, a deep human instinct echoed in Islam and other religious traditions, and in the hearts of all who seek the welfare of others.”

This message from Charles, who recently returned from a four-day tour of Italy with Camilla, 77, precedes his annual donation of Maundy money at the historic Durham Cathedral in northeast England. This ancient ceremony commemorates the act of almsgiving traditionally observed at Easter.

Charles is expected to join other members of the royal family for Easter Sunday services at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, on April 20.
