Kelly Ripa Jokingly Asks Ryan Seacrest If He Has ‘Learned How to Spell’ During Wheel of Fortune Gig

Kelly Ripa couldn’t help but poke fun at her former Live co-host Ryan Seacrest.

The television personality, 49, and his sister Meredith stopped by Live with Kelly and Mark on Monday, Oct. 7 to discuss their new children’s book, The Make-Believers, as well as his new gig as the host of Wheel of Fortune.

“So, tell me about Wheel of Fortune now. Have you learned how to spell?” Ripa teased Seacrest with Meredith adding, “We know that’s a problem.”

“I don’t text well. She knows that,” Seacrest answered, referring to Ripa. “But on the puzzles, I’m OK. I kind of know where we’re going with the puzzles.”

Seacrest took over as host of Wheel of Fortune on Sept. 9 following Pat Sajak’s retirement.

“Welcome to Wheel of Fortune. I am your host, Ryan Seacrest,” he shared on his debut episode. “I still can’t believe my luck being here with you tonight to continue this legacy of this incredible show with all of you and of course, my good friend, Vanna White.”

After thanking the audience for the “very warm welcome,” Seacrest called hosting the game show his “dream job.”

Seacrest departed Live after six years co-hosting alongside Kelly Ripa in April 2023. Before his exit, he told E! News that he would miss working with Ripa each day.

“And I’ll miss being next to Kelly every single day,” he shared at the time. “We’re extremely close, we’re very good friends and we’ll remain good friends, but it’s like there’s that hour of communicating with somebody. You become super excited about doing it, you laugh and then of course you can’t remember what you said to each other, so I’ll miss that part.”
