JoJo Siwa Reveals Freddie Mercury Is the Rock Icon She Wants to Channel on the Red Carpet Next

JoJo Siwa’s got her eye on rock ‘n’ roll when it comes to her style.

Speaking with PEOPLE at the Christian Cowan spring 2025 show on Sept. 8 during New York Fashion Week, the “Karma” singer, 21, shared which music icon she feels a connection with.

“All of my life has always been inspired by Freddie Mercury. I love that boy so much and I think he’s always with me in some sort of way and inspiration. Definitely some Freddie looks in the future,” she says.

The Queen frontman isn’t the only musician Siwa is a fan of.

At the iHeartRadio Music Awards in April, the Dance Moms alum took her edgy aesthetic to the next level with glam that was wholly influenced by the legendary band KISS. Her getup shook the internet with her spot-on getup, which included a bedazzled jumpsuit and epic rocker makeup.

Siwa’s look was so major that it caught the attention of Gene Simmons who called the dancer “cool” and “extraordinary” for her sartorial audaciousness in an interview with TMZ. “Anybody who doesn’t get it is just jealous, period.”

And then, the moment got bigger with Chloe Fineman recreating Siwa’s KISS look on Saturday Night Live.

Recently, Siwa also went full Miley Cyus, giving pop princess in a teddy bear bra (much like the one Cyrus wore during her Bangerz era) at the Pride Disco show in July.

“When I was 8 is when Miley had her Bangerz moment and I was like, ‘All I want is to have that one day.’ I want that,” Siwa told Alex Cooper on the Call Her Daddy podcast in April 2024.
