John Stamos Stands Tall at Mar-A-Lago Event, Insists His Role Isn’t Politically Charged

John Stamos is expressing his thoughts following his recent participation at a charity event at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, which drew criticism from fans on social media.

The Full House actor, 61, posted a message to his Instagram Stories on Monday, April 7, clarifying his presence at the Palm Beach Ray of Hope Gala and stating that his choice to host the event was not a “political” one.

“I accepted the invitation to host the Palm Beach Ray of Hope Gala — an evening devoted to honoring and uplifting our frontline heroes,” Stamos articulated in a statement, emphasizing that the “nonpartisan” gathering supports the Academy for Nursing and Health Occupations (AHNO).

A webpage for the event mentioned that the AHNO “educates between 350-400 nurses each year” and aids in “tackling the critical deficit of healthcare professionals.” The benefit event paired “notable local individuals with professional dancers” to generate funds for the organization, and was also joined by Dancing with the Stars alumni Artem Chigvintsev and Karina Smirnoff.

John Stamos released a statement about appearing at Mar-a-Lago

“Backers of nurses are not engaging in politics — it’s a necessity,” Stamos explained. “These are the individuals who care for us and our families during times of need, and I believe we should support them with the same unyielding commitment they demonstrate every day.”

He added, “I affirm the significance of healthcare, of service, and of investing in those who nurture our communities.”

The actor wrapped up his message by stating that his “political beliefs remain unchanged” and urged fans to contemplate contributing to the AHNO, which assists in addressing “the critical deficit of healthcare professionals in our community.”

He also provided a link to Democracy Forward, a nonprofit organization that aims to leverage legal tactics to counteract assaults on democracy and citizens, as per its website. The link shared by Stamos directed to a donation page that proclaimed: “President Trump swore an oath to the Constitution. We need your help to hold him and his administration accountable…”

This comes after numerous individuals criticized the Grandfathered star online after images of him at the event surfaced. In reaction, one user remarked on X, “NOOOOOOO UNCLE JESSE. JOHN STAMOS. NO.”

Another user shared a gif of the late Whitney Houston addressing Brandy, saying, “What are you doing down there?” and added alongside it, “Me to John Stamos.”

“John Stamos just ruined his brand forever,” another comment on X read. “You can’t go to Mar-a-Lago and then expect the smell to ever fade. Nobody will show him mercy. (See what I did there?)”

Stamos previously supported President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2020 elections and posted a photo on X with the former president in the White House, congratulating him on his victory. According to Spectrum News, he also backed Harris in the recent 2024 election.
