Jesse Eisenberg Says Friend Emma Stone Is His ‘Fairy Godmother’: ‘Smartest Person I’ve Ever Met’ (Exclusive)
“She’s super bright, she’s passionate as hell and she’s a great friend,” he says. “I feel a bit like she’s my fairy godmother. You know, that she’s given me so many wonderful opportunities in my life.”
In addition to producing behind the scenes of A Real Pain, Stone and her husband Dave McCary produced Eisenberg’s directorial debut, 2022’s When You Finish Saving the World.
During a virtual Q&A at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, Stone said it was a “no-brainer” to jump on board to support her friend’s creative endeavor.
“He’s the most curious person I’ve ever met,” she said at the time. “He studies everyone and asks so many questions. He has a deep empathy to him. I knew that from acting with him, so it just felt like a no-brainer that we’d attempt to work on something with him.”
A Real Pain is about cousins David (Eisenberg) and Benji (Kieran Culkin), who “reunite for a tour through Poland to honor their beloved grandmother,” per a synopsis. The cast also includes Will Sharpe, Jennifer Grey, Kurt Egyiawan, Liza Sadovy and Daniel Oreskes.
A Real Pain is in select theaters Nov. 1.
