HGTV Removes Christina Haack’s Ex Josh Hall from New The Flip Off Promo Photos

Josh Hall is nowhere to be seen in new promotional photos for The Flip Off.

Christina Haack’s (formerly Hall) estranged third husband was set to star alongside her in the house flipping reality competition series premiering on HGTV Jan. 29. But in the newest images released by the network, he’s MIA.

Instead, the photos show Christina solo opposite her competitors on the show: her first husband and former Flip or Flop co-star Tarek El Moussa, and Tarek’s new wife Heather El Moussa. The distinctive setting and the trio’s outfits indicate the new image was created from the same set of photos.

When the series was first announced in May 2024, the premise pitted Christina and Tarek against one another, each with their new spouse as their teammate. Josh was featured in the official trailer and appeared in promo videos shared by the four stars on social media. However, after he filed for divorce from Christina on July 15, the future of the series and his place in it became unclear.

HGTV never directly addressed if Josh would continue to be involved in any way or appear in early episodes, as the show had seemingly begun production at the time of his and Christina’s split.

That question now appears to be answered.

In addition to the new series title card photo without Josh (top) that appears in an exclusive clip shared by PEOPLE on Thursday, Dec. 12, a new promotional image of the show’s stars, shows only Christina, Tarek and Heather posing together.

A press release from the network shared with PEOPLE on Wednesday teases Josh’s exit from the series.

He’s not mentioned by name in the document, but the series synopsis reads, in part, “As The Flip Off begins, Christina will start the competition against Tarek and Heather alongside her husband, but a sudden life change will bring a shocking twist. With even more to prove on her own, Christina will turn to her trusted team, stopping at nothing to silence Tarek’s endless bragging and beat him at his own flipping game.”

In PEOPLE’s exclusive first look at the show’s emotional premiere (below), Christina breaks the news to Tarek that she and Josh have “officially split up” and the HGTV stars have a tearful heart to heart about the trauma they’ve both experienced since they parted ways under dramatic circumstances in Dec. 2016.

“We had a blow up… middle fingers in my face,” Christina tells Tarek of her final straw with Josh. “Things with Josh have been bad for a long time.”

She also reveals to her first husband that their kids — Taylor, 14, and Brayden, 9 — had a role in the end of her relationship with the formerly Austin-based real estate professional, whom she wed in secret courthouse ceremony in Oct. 2021.

“The kids literally asked me to leave. They told me he’s not nice to me. Why would I stick around?” Christina says. “I feel like I’m in a tornado all the time and I just can’t get out of it.”

While the exes have worked toward becoming amicable coparents in the years since their divorce, and even continued to film Flip or Flop together for several seasons after they split, the heavy scene is a departure from the playful way they often danced around their differences on screen.

In addition to, bringing together Christina, Tarek and Heather, The Flip Off will also feature several more familiar faces.

The network confirmed on Thursday that Christina’s second husband, Ant Anstead, will be appearing as a guest judge, after he was spotted filming with Christina last month. Other guest judges will include Heather’s former Selling Sunset co-star Amanza Smith, Real Housewives of Orange County’s Heather Dubrow, and Tarek and Christina’s moms.
