Halle Bailey Says She Is Already Thinking of Party Themes for Son Halo’s 1st Birthday (Exclusive)
Halle Bailey is getting ready to celebrate her son’s first birthday!
While chatting with PEOPLE about her partnership with the Marriott Bonvoy Bold Credit Card from Chase and its new Bold Chat Court contest, the singer and actress, 24, also opens up about celebrating son Halo’s special day later this year.
“Oh my gosh, I’m so excited,” Bailey says of her baby turning 1 in December. “It’s so crazy because I feel like I was just in the hospital yesterday.”
“I’m just so happy. He’s just my angel and the joy of my world,” she continues. “I can’t believe he’s going to be one soon. It’s mind-blowing to me.”
Further detailing plans for Halo’s first birthday celebration, Bailey says, “We’re doing a themed birthday party. We’re picking through his favorites, and he loves CoComelon, so we thought about doing a CoComelon party, something like that.”
Bailey announced that she and boyfriend DDG, 26, welcomed their first child together in an Instagram post on Jan. 6.
“Even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son.. welcome to the world my halo 🥰👼🏽 ✨the world is desperate to know you 😉🤣♥️,” she wrote in the caption of her post.
Bailey and her rapper boyfriend opted to keep her pregnancy news secret. After Halo was born, The Little Mermaid star answered fan questions on Snapchat, including one where she opened up about why it was important for her to have a “private” and “healthy” journey while carrying her son.
“Honestly I stayed off of all social media,” she said. “I really tried to just keep myself sane, and I know that there were a lot of people who would always comment and be like, ‘We know girl, we know.’ And I’m like, ‘Okay, that’s great that you know, but I’m just going to chill.’ ”
In an interview with PEOPLE earlier this year, Bailey opened up about how she and DDG chose their son’s name.
“It was actually my boyfriend’s idea,” Bailey explained. “He’s the one who came up with his name. We just agreed, and we loved it. I love the name Halo.”
When asked if there is any connection between her child’s name and the song of the same name that mentor Beyoncé released off of her I Am… Sasha Fierce album in 2008, Bailey said with a laugh, “He for sure has a theme song.”
Recently, Halo celebrated a different milestone — his first concert. Bailey took her infant son to see Bruno Mars perform a show in August.
“Took my baby to his first concert tonight to see bruno mars 💙,” the proud mom wrote alongside a series of photographs of herself and Halo wearing matching denim ensembles.
