Grimes Pleads with Elon Musk to Shield Their Children from the Spotlight: “It’s a Major Concern”

Grimes has stated that she has “pleaded” with Elon Musk to shield their three children from the public eye.
In a message posted on X on Thursday, March 13, the artist, 36, expressed that she has “pleaded” her ex-partner Musk, 53, to refrain from exposing their children in the public domain and on social media, even seeking “legal action.”
Grimes (birth name Claire Boucher) was addressing a fictitious post on X which falsely claimed to depict her discussing the “sexuality” of “Fortune 500 CEOs,” and responded to a user who inquired: “How can you guard your children against this? Can’t you erase this nonsense from the internet?”
“Regrettably, I do not have authority over the internet and cannot erase this from it,” Grimes replied to the user. “I have attempted to implore the public and my children’s father to keep them off the internet, and I have sought legal action. I follow you here, I’ve witnessed young [individuals] being harmed by the internet as well.”
“The situation of my children’s lives being exposed is of serious concern to me, and I contemplate solutions for this daily,” she went on. “It’s unbelievable to me that there’s no method to address this. I would hope there were some legislation that would permit a parent to prevent young children from leading public lives, but to be honest, I no longer trust the law to assist me if I attempted to invoke it.”
“We are in a chaotic era of informational content and the erosion of privacy, and it is quite alarming,” Grimes concluded.
Musk previously attracted attention when he brought the couple’s oldest child, son X Æ A-Xii, 4, to the Oval Office on Feb. 11 while President Donald Trump signed an executive order granting Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency increased authority.
Shortly thereafter, Grimes revealed that she was unaware of her son’s public appearance, only learning about it from an X user.
“He shouldn’t be out in public like this,” the singer commented on X at that time. “I did not witness this; thank you for informing me. But I’m pleased he was courteous. Sigh.”
Soon after, the artist also expressed her thoughts in an interview with Time, published on Feb. 24, and
addressed critics who rebuked her after her critiques of Musk.
“It was portrayed as, ‘Grimes criticizes,’ ‘Grimes speaks out.’ It’s like, okay, it was a response. But I genuinely wish individuals would cease posting pictures of my child everywhere,” she conveyed to the publication, adding that she believes “fame is something one should agree to.”
“Clearly, circumstances will unfold as they will. But I would genuinely, genuinely appreciate that. I can only request, so that’s what I’m doing,” she concluded.
Grimes and Musk ended their relationship in September 2021 after three years together. Three months later, they discreetly welcomed their daughter Exa Dark Sideræl via surrogate.
In September 2023, it was disclosed that their third child, son Techno Mechanicus, was born in June 2022.
The Tesla CEO is a father to 14 children. He shares six children with ex-wife Justine Wilson. Their eldest, Nevada Alexander, passed away from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) at 10 weeks old. He also has four children with Shivon Zilis, an executive at Neuralink, and influencer Ashley St. Clair has asserted that she and Musk welcomed their first child together in September 2024.
