Eva Evans’ Sister Reflects on the Dimming of Her Joy as the First Anniversary of the Influencer’s Passing Approaches

Lila Evans is honoring her late sister, Eva Evans, one year after her tragic passing at the age of 29 on April 20, 2024.
In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Lila shared a series of vibrant, symbolic images along with an extensive caption celebrating Eva and her uplifting spirit.
“Spanish word of the day: Mushroom,” she began, accompanied by a slideshow of nature photos, showcasing a stunning desert landscape, a brilliant orange sunset, joyful friends embracing, a mushroom poster, and a signed book from Eva.
“When I moved into an apartment with my sister, @itsevaevans, she gifted me the coffee table book ‘Living in Color,’ inscribed (last slide): ‘Lilabadila, Your light could fill the barest of rooms with color. I’m so lucky and excited to make a home with you! I am truly living in (and with) color. xoxo… love you sooooo much, E,'” Lila recounted.
Lila reflected on the theme of color, stating, “I do think a lot about color, practically, but recently, I’ve lost a bit of that light—at least in the way that I think Eva intended. In this book she gave me, there’s a quote from Gertrude Stein,” followed by the passage. “‘Every room has its gloom; the great thing is to find the color that will cut the gloom.'” Lila explained, “During our days in Oaxaca, Roland entertained us with ‘Spanish words of the day,’ shared with a native’s flair that had us all laughing. On our last day, I stumbled upon a poster featuring one of those words.”
Regarding the mushroom poster in her Instagram carousel, Lila recalled its message: “‘How much room does someone need to grow? As mushroom as possible,’ 🍄” she said. She concluded, “All this to say – it’s been a joy to discover ways to cut through the gloom, recognize synchronicities, seek out light, and truly live in MUSH more color.”
“So if YOU are feeling down, especially if you’re a friend of Eva’s and are feeling her loss more deeply as we approach the one-year anniversary, we’re sending you colors 💌🧡💙❤️💛🩷💚💜🤍,” she added.
Eva, a popular TikTok personality, had over 300,000 followers on the platform. Her content spanned various topics, including breakups and reviews of her TikTok purchases.
She was also the creator of Club Rat, a series that began on TikTok in 2023 and was later made available on Prime Video.
In a clip from March 2024, Eva opened up about her mental health, sharing that she started therapy at the age of 16.
“When I was 16, I was forcibly taken to a wilderness therapy program and spent almost a year in treatment centers,” she revealed in her caption. “Today, I’m a filmmaker and I developed a TV show based on my experiences.”
Lila announced Eva’s death on Instagram on April 21, just one day after the tragic event.
“Please share this post so it reaches everyone who needs to see it,” Lila wrote at that time. “Yesterday, my family received the devastating news that our sweet, fabulous, creative, caring, hilarious Eva, my beautiful sister, has died. After 24 hours, I still find myself cycling through denial and acceptance, so I understand how difficult this news will be for everyone.”
Lila continued: “I wish I had Eva here now to speak for me because she would know the right words. I will keep this brief as we prepare for the coming days, but you will hear much more from me about how much Eva meant to me and how different the world will be without her.”
She concluded her message with, “All my love, Lila.”
