Rising to fame in 2012 following the debut of Girls, Dunham has chosen to stay out of the limelight in recent years.

“I consider myself very fortunate as the past few years have been, in my opinion, the most peaceful of my life,” she shared with PEOPLE in June 2024.

In 2021, Dunham tied the knot with her spouse Luis Felber. Speaking to PEOPLE previously, she humorously mentioned, “Sometimes I worry that I am dull on the phone with my pals because I have a fantastic husband who I enjoy working with.”

Despite working on multiple projects since the conclusion of Girls in 2017, Dunham has opted to not take on acting roles in them. She disclosed that she will not be a part of her forthcoming semi-autobiographical show Too Much after facing immense scrutiny for her body during her tenure in Girls. Instead, she cast actress Megan Stalter.

“I also realized that I wasn’t ready to go through what I experienced during Girls at this phase in my life. Physically, I didn’t want my body to be criticized again. It was a tough decision, not choosing Meg — as I was set on her — but admitting that to myself,” Dunham shared with The New Yorker in July 2024.
