Elton John Teases New Music Following Vision Loss from Eye Infection: ‘The Juices Have Never Dried Up’
New music from Elton John is on the way.
During his Dec. 17 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert with Brandi Carlile, the legendary singer revealed that he’s been considering his next steps.
Colbert, 60, asked John, 77, if “the juices are flowing again” as far as new music goes after finishing his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in July 2023 and “jamming with Joni” Mitchell.
“You will be getting some more [music],” the “Crocodile Rock” singer confirmed.
“The juices have never dried up. They never want to dry up because I’m always looking to create things,” he continued. “It’s just having the space now to do it at my own time. Of course there will be new Elton John music.”
The multi-hyphenate had stopped by Colbert’s talk show to promote his documentary Elton John: Never Too Late, where the EGOT reflects on his life onstage and off.
“Elton John as he looks back on his life and the astonishing early days of his 50-year career in this emotionally charged, intimate and uplifting full-circle journey,” a synopsis for the documentary states.
“As he prepares for his final concert in North America at Dodger Stadium, Elton takes us back in time and recounts the extraordinary highs and heartbreaking lows of his early years and how he overcame adversity, abuse and addiction to become the icon he is today.
The announcement about John’s new music comes months after the “Rocket Man” singer revealed he suffered an eye infection over the summer in an Instagram post. He said then that he had “only limited vision in one eye.”
“I am healing, but it’s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye,” he added.
In late November, John said that he lost his vision in his right eye as a result of the infection. “I can’t see anything. I can’t read anything, I can’t watch anything,” he revealed during an appearance on Good Morning America.
