Demi Lovato and Fiancé Jutes Celebrate Anniversary of Their Engagement: ‘Cannot Wait to Call You My Husband!’

Demi Lovato and Jordan “Jutes” Lutes are counting down the days until their wedding!

The couple just celebrated the one-year anniversary of their engagement, with Jutes, 33, posting a sweet social media tribute to the 32-year-old singer — who then reciprocated with an equally heartfelt message.

On Monday, Dec. 16, Jutes shared an Instagram Stories post featuring a photo from the couple’s engagement exactly one year ago: a snapshot of them smiling as they appear to go in for a kiss.

Alongside the engagement photo, he wrote, “1 year of being engaged to my favorite person. I’m so lucky and can’t wait to marry u baby 😘.”

Lovato (who uses she/they pronouns) shared the picture on her own Instagram Stories, and called their songwriter fiancé “my sweet angel.”

“I love you infinitely and cannot wait to call you my husband!!!” she continued. “Happy 1 year of being engaged baby!!”

Jutes — who went public with his romance with Lovato in August 2022 — popped the question in a “personal and intimate proposal” in Los Angeles on Dec. 16, 2023, PEOPLE confirmed exclusively at the time.

Aside from co-writing “Substance” with Lovato — which is how the now-couple first met in January 2022 — Jutes also shares writing credits on her tracks “Happy Ending” and “City of Angels,” all off Lovato’s album Holy Fvck.

The summer before their engagement, Lovato opened up to SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up about the couple’s love story, saying they were “friends first and foremost.”

“We became friends first,” the “La La Land” singer explained. “We were friends for several months and then we decided to start dating and, well, after we told each other how we felt.”

More recently, Lovato opened up about their relationship at a screening of the documentary Child Star, which they both starred in and directed.

“You know, I’ve waited my whole life for him,” she told PEOPLE of Jutes at the September screening. “It’s very grounding to have a partner who is so supportive, so loving, so caring.”

“It’s very easy to stay centered with him,” Lovato added, “because I love him so much and he treats me so amazing.”

The following month, Jutes spoke about the pair’s wedding plans, revealing to PEOPLE that the couple is not looking to rush the process.

“We’re not trying to stress ourselves out,” he said. “I feel like a lot of weddings can be stressful and very quick, and so we’re on it, but we’re also taking our time, and we’re also just enjoying being engaged.”

“We’re not trying to skip engagement to get right to wedding,” he continued. “We’re just basking in it and soaking it up. We’ll be married forever. We just want to enjoy every step.”
