On Saturday, June 22, David Beckham posted a series of videos on his Instagram Stories of himself using a pull-up bar to sculpt his abs by doing crunches.

The soccer icon, 49, performed his workout shirtless, with his muscles and tattoos on full display. He wore only navy blue shorts, turquoise sneakers and tube socks.

David Beckham’s body: Despite no longer playing soccer professionally, Beckham makes it a habit to stay in shape. Back in April, he posted a picture his wife Victoria Beckham took of him working out.

“Can’t beat a little down lighting Thanks to my lighting technician @victoriabeckham,” he captioned the photo, showing off his well-lit abs thanks to the former Spice Girl’s assistance.

Beckham has been outspoken about his time on the soccer field since retiring from the sport in 2013.

He told PEOPLE in February about the soccer memory from his career that still gives him goosebumps.

David Beckham’s body: “I have so many incredible memories of the Champions League,” Beckham said, referring to when he played for Manchester United. “With Manchester United, 1999 will always be incredibly special given that we won the Treble, something no other club had done before.”

Beckham continued, “I can’t believe it’s 25 years ago this year. I remember that final so clearly, it gives me goosebumps thinking about it now.”

“To win the Champions League with that group of players who I’d grown up with — it doesn’t get much better than that,” he added.
