**Cristóbal Tapia de Veer Exits *The White Lotus* Following Creative Clash with Mike White**

The White Lotus will undergo a sonic transformation in future installments.

Series composer Cristóbal Tapia de Veer disclosed during an April 2 interview with The New York Times that audiences reacted vehemently to the season 3 main title track alterations, ultimately prompting his departure from the project.

The 51-year-old musician described facing intense media scrutiny regarding the theme following the season’s debut.

“Media outlets from TMZ to international press corps bombarded me for statements about the theme,” he revealed. “The passionate backlash against the musical changes proved fascinating to observe.”

Responding to audience reactions, Tapia de Veer contemplated releasing an alternative version of the theme.

“I proposed sharing an extended cut featuring the signature vocalizations to satisfy fans,” he explained. “While the producer initially agreed, Mike White ultimately rejected the concept, creating further tension.”

The composer characterized this disagreement as “our final creative impasse.”

“With subsequent proposals being routinely dismissed, I independently released the track on my personal YouTube channel,” he stated.

Tapia de Veer confirmed his involvement with the series concludes with the current season.

When questioned about showrunner Mike White’s response to his exit, the composer offered a metaphorical comparison.

“While he made numerous remarks, I’ll maintain discretion,” Tapia de Veer said. “Our dynamic mirrored that of ‘La Cage Aux Folles’ – with Mike as the meticulous producer managing a creative prima donna’s temperament to maintain production harmony.”

Representatives for White have been contacted by PEOPLE for response.

The Thailand-set third season, premiering February 16, features performances by Aimee Lou Wood, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Michelle Monaghan, and returning star Natasha Rothwell among its ensemble cast.

HBO will broadcast the season’s concluding chapter on April 6.
