Chrissy Teigen Googles Unknown Song at John Legend’s Show to See Who Sang It First: ‘Turns Out… It Is Him. Whoopsie’

Chrissy Teigen didn’t do her homework ahead of her husband’s festive concert.

In an Instagram post shared Thursday, Dec. 5, the cookbook author, 39, shared that after attending John Legend’s Christmas show, she was curious about one of his musical numbers.

“If John’s Christmas show is coming to your city, you must go,” she began. “I went in totally blind and oh it’s just so cute.” She wrote that his setlist includes a lot of classic songs, a slow dance with a fan (that she joked used to make her jealous 15 years ago) and “a lot of holiday joy.”

“He actually did a song I loved so much that I googled who sings it, as he does a few covers as well,” she continued. “Turns out…it is him. Whoopsie ”

Her Instagram post featured a screenshot from Teigen searching for the original singer of “When We Fly” — a song she happens to know very well despite her original doubts.

Teigen added that she hadn’t “gotten to get to the whole children’s album yet” at the time, referring to Legend’s My Favorite Dream, which came out in August. But she did call it “so so beautiful” upon listening, which she “does all day.”

The singer, 45, exclusively announced the John Legend Christmas Tour with PEOPLE in October. The live shows, which feature a four-piece band, is making stops across the U.S. during the month of December.

“My hope for these shows is that they feel like a gathering of friends by the fireside — where the music brings warmth, joy, and a sense of togetherness,” the EGOT winner said at the time.

“Over the years, I’ve experienced the holidays in so many ways, and each version of me — from my childhood to now as a father — has shaped the way I approach this season,” he continued.

Legend added, “I want to share that journey with the audience, through songs and stories that celebrate both the festive spirit and the moments that bring us closer. I hope people leave feeling like they’ve been part of something warm, familiar, and special.”
