**Chaka Khan & Sia’s “Killer” Collaboration Roadblock: Inside Their Struggle to Finish New Music**

Music icons Chaka Khan and Sia are joining forces creatively. Sort of.
During a recent Guardian interview published April 3, the legendary vocalist behind “I’m Every Woman” responded to fan inquiries about her artistic journey, notable collaborations, and current endeavors.
When praised for her 2019 track “Like Sugar,” the 72-year-old Grammy winner revealed her current focus: “We’re deep in the studio! My gifted goddaughter Sia and I are crafting something extraordinary – aiming for a summer debut of our inaugural single,” Khan shared enthusiastically.
“Musical creation fuels my soul,” the artist emphasized. “Collaborating with Sia feels like tapping into boundless creativity – we’ve developed an incredible synergy over twelve months of studio magic.”
This marks Khan’s second artistic partnership with the Australian songwriter, following their 2024 collaboration on “Immortal Queen” from Sia’s Reasonable Woman album.
Their creative chemistry recently electrified the 2023 Rock Hall induction ceremony, where Khan received honors. The pair delivered a show-stopping medley of “Sweet Thing” and “I’m Every Woman” at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.
Reflecting on past collaborations, Khan compared working with Prince to “interacting with my artistic twin.” She ranked the late icon second only to jazz legend Miles Davis in creative impact, adding: “Sia completes my top three, alongside Quincy Jones’ inspirational genius.”
Upcoming plans include Khan’s “Queens Tour” launching in May with soul legends Patti LaBelle, Gladys Knight, and Stephanie Mills. The 18-time Grammy collective will grace stages from Baltimore to Los Angeles before announcing additional September-October dates.
