Anne Hathaway Wanted to Become A Nun
Anne Hathaway’s brothers photo: Anne Hathaway has always been one with ambition. How else would one explain her dreams of becoming a glorious actress who doubled as a part-time nun?
Growing up as a Roman Catholic, Hathaway had been instilled with what she deemed as “really strong values.” Her spiritual and religious beliefs gradually started to burgeon into a desire of joining the Catholic Church as a nun. The Oscar winner, however, always had a stronger penchant for acting, courtesy of her mother and former actress Kate McCauley Hathaway.
Anne Hathaway’s brothers photo: “When I was younger, I thought about becoming a nun for a while,” Hathaway, 40, divulged in one of her old interviews.
“You know how it is when you’re growing up and you’re going to be a lot of different things, but I actually wanted to be an actress before I wanted to be a nun.”

Hathaway’s hopes and dreams of donning modest tunics and praying with rosaries, however, faded into oblivion when she and her entire family switched to Episcopalianism instead.
Changing Her Religious Orientation to Support Her Brother
Anne Hathaway’s brothers photo: When Hathaway’s older brother came out as gay, the actress along with her entire family decided to change their religious orientation altogether. The Catholic Church, as is known commonly, holds certain stringent views regarding matters of sexuality. And Hathaway refused to be associated with an organization that frowned upon her brother due to his personal and romantic life.
“The whole family converted to Episcopalianism after my elder brother came out,” the Interstellar star told British GQ (via HuffPost) when she shunned the religion. “Why should I support an organization that has a limited view of my beloved brother?” Unfortunately enough, switching to Episcopalianism didn’t work out either, after which Hathway then declared herself to be “a work in progress.”
“So I’m … nothing,” she said. “F*ck it, I’m forming. I’m a work in progress.” Well, her aspirations of joining the convent might not have materialized, but she’s certainly killing it in the acting department.
