Cara Delevingne Transforms into Elton John in ‘Step Into Christmas’ Music Video Remake — Watch!

Cara Delevingne is a spitting image for Elton John.

On Wednesday, Dec. 18, the “Candle in the Wind” musician, 77, shared a kitschy visual remake of his 1973 Christmas classic “Step into Christmas,” starring the actress/model, 32.

In the new video, which takes cues from John’s original visual for the track, Delevingne dresses in drag as the “Tiny Dancer” hitmaker as a production team frantically decorates the video’s set for the holidays, with a festive feather boa, balloons, and confetti. Meanwhile, chaos abounds as the team wrangles an escaped turkey, fails to book a real reindeer, and tackles a fan who storms the set.

The visual also pans to a 1973 version of John along with Delevingne as they sing together.

“I saw Cara at Glastonbury last summer, and we talked about how much we’d love to work together if the right idea came up,” John said in a statement. “She’s hilarious to spend time with; we both have quite a self-deprecating sense of humor. When someone suggested the idea of her playing me in a riff on the 1973 ‘Step Into Christmas’ video, I just thought it was the perfect opportunity. Thank God Cara thought the same because it came out great.”

For Delevingne, John has always been “an idol of hers.” “To say his music has had a deeply profound effect on me is an understatement,” she said in a statement. “To be asked by him to PLAY him in this recreation was a dream that I didn’t know I had until it happened. Honestly, I wish I could pretend to be Elton every day. I hope that Elton may one day return the favor and agree to play me in my not-yet-developed, written, pitched, or funded biopic. Fingers crossed.”

Cara Delevingne Stars in Elton John Music Video Step Into Christmas

“Step into Christmas,” which was originally released in 1973, peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Christmas Singles chart in the U.S. and No. 24 during its initial seven-week run on the UK Singles Chart. Over the years, it has lived on as a seasonal favorite.

The reimagined visual comes just days after Elton’s new documentary, Elton John: Never Too Late, premiered on Disney+.

The film spans the earlier years of John’s career into his final performance at Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles in November 2022.
