Bryce Dallas Howard Wishes ‘Handsome’ Husband Seth Gabel Happy Birthday: ‘I Love You’

Bryce Dallas Howard has a sweet birthday message for her husband Seth Gabel.

On Friday, Oct. 4, the Jurassic World actress, 43, celebrated Gabel’s 44th birthday with a heartfelt Instagram post, which featured a close-up selfie of the pair.

“*shouting from the rooftops* I love you Seth! Happy Birthday Handsome ❤️,” Howard captioned the photo, which showed her giving Gabel a kiss on the cheek.

Howard, the daughter of filmmaker Ron Howard, and Gabel, known for his acting roles in shows including Sex and the City, Salem, Big Sky and American Horror Story, have been together since 2001, when they met while studying acting at New York University.

Last year, the pair celebrated their 22nd year together. In a sweet Instagram tribute post, Howard revealed that they didn’t make plans but it was their “best anniversary yet” — because they just reflected on their first date and their early days of dating.

“We reminisced, we took a walk, we watched episodes of our favorite show from the earliest days of our relationship (“Nigella Bites”),” she wrote at the time. “I love you Seth Gabel — thanks for going on that date 22 years ago. I still own the sweater I wore that night because I JUST KNEW.⁣”

In June this year, the couple — who are parents to son Theo, 16, and daughter Beatrice, 11 — also reflected on 18 years of marriage in a joint Instagram post, writing simply: “Married 18 years ago today ♥️⁣” as they posed for a scenic selfie in the Jardin du Luxembourg in Paris.

Also this year, they celebrated their more recent 23rd dating anniversary. Howard wrote in another social media post in February: “Today is 23 years since we started dating, and each day gets better and better. I love you handsome.⁣”

The pair tied the knot in a Greenwich, Conn. wedding in 2006.

Howard previously spoke to PEOPLE in 2020 about just how “unbelievably supportive” Gabel is when they’re both working — considering that they’re often separated for months at a time while they’re both on film sets.

“Obviously we ideally wouldn’t be separated, but he’s amazing,” she said of her longtime partner.

“I feel more balanced because sometimes there are things that you just can’t control and you just try and be graceful through that time,” Howard continued, reflecting on their time apart from each other. “And then there are times when you can control things and it’s about applying your wisdom and working toward a solution. I think that’s something I’m still consistently learning.”
