Bruce Springsteen Says Jeremy Allen White ‘Sings Pretty Good’ in Upcoming Biopic About the Rock Icon

Bruce Springsteen is a Jeremy Allen White fan!

During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show that aired on Friday, Oct. 18, the music legend revealed that he liked White’s singing voice in the upcoming biopic, Deliver Me from Nowhere.

“It’s a lovely cast and I am involved a little,” Springsteen, 75, said before speaking about Allen’s portrayal of him in the movie. “This is not easy to do because you can’t do an imitation, you have to do a personal interpretation.”

He added, “It’s difficult but he is a great actor and sings pretty good.”

Springsteen’s comments about The Bear star’s singing skills come after he revealed that he felt good about the biopic after reading the script. “I’ve seen the scripts and I’ve talked to the director. They’re just putting it all together, so I don’t have an awful lot to say about it, but I’m excited about it happening,” the rock star told fellow musician Zach Bryan during an interview for Rolling Stone.

“It’ll be an interesting story,” he continued, adding that the film was “an interesting story” with a “really good” screenplay. “I feel good about the whole project.”

Deliver Me from Nowhere is set to tell the story about the making of the 1982 Springsteen album Nebraska. In March, Variety confirmed that White, 33, will be portraying Springsteen in the movie, which is based on author Warren Zanes’ 2023 nonfiction book of the same name.

Meanwhile, Springsteen also spoke on The Graham Norton Show about his upcoming documentary, Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band, which followed the behind-the-scenes moments of his band’s world tour.

“I get anticipatory anxiety. It’s not quite the same thing as nervousness,” he said after being asked if he still gets nervous when performing. “It’s a natural feeling to have before you go out to challenge yourself. If it wasn’t there, I think there would be something wrong with you and you couldn’t do the job.”

Speaking about whether he plans to retire following his 75th birthday on Sept. 23, Springsteen said, “You’ve never seen a hearse with luggage on top so that will be it for me. I am going to keep going until it’s over.”
