Blake & Ryan’s Touchdown of Love: Wrexham’s Win Steals Our Hearts
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds shared a sweet display of affection while celebrating a significant victory!
The couple was seen at a Wrexham AFC soccer team match in Wales recently, where they were spotted cuddling and cheering enthusiastically from the stands as Wrexham triumphed over Charlton with a final score of 3-0.
Lively, 37, looked stylish in a comfortable checked long-sleeved shirt, while Reynolds, 48, opted for a relaxed look in a white T-shirt paired with a gray button-up.
This win holds particular importance for Reynolds, who, along with It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia co-creator Rob McElhenney, acquired the team back in 2021.
The victory signifies that the former fifth-tier team has officially earned promotion to the Championship, the second tier in English soccer. This also means the Premier League, the U.K.’s most prestigious league, is potentially within reach in the foreseeable future.
“It just seemed like an impossible dream,” Reynolds shared, reflecting on the team’s promotion. “We said five years ago our goal was to make it to the Premier League. There were understandably a lot of laughs, but it feels like a thing that could make it to fruition right now.”
The last time the team held a position in the second tier was during the 1981-1982 session.
While Lively appears to be just as invested in the team’s success as her husband, Reynolds previously revealed that his decision to make such a significant and unexpected purchase didn’t initially resonate well with his wife.
“I remember seeing Blake and saying, ‘I have bad news and I have really bad news,’ ” he recounted during an appearance with McElhenney, 48, on a talk show back in August of 2022.
“‘The bad news is I slipped into someone’s DMs again,’ ” he jokingly recalled. ” ‘The really bad news is that I might have bought half of a fifth-tier national football league in Wales.’ ”
“We’re still working through that one,” he added with a smile.
Reynolds and McElhenney further expanded their business collaboration in October 2024, announcing their acquisition of Wrexham Lager Beer Co Ltd., the oldest lager brewery company still in operation in Great Britain.
Furthermore, in January 2025, the pair revealed they were among a group of celebrity investors who had acquired a stake in La Equidad, a Colombian soccer club.
Sources report that other owners include actress Eva Longoria, retired NBA player Shawn Marion, and baseball star Justin Verlander and his wife Kate Upton.
