Selena Gomez and her food influencer boyfriend, Benny Blanco, stepped out of their comfort zones together to try a new summer snack — and Blanco documented the entire thing in a TikTok.
In the video, which the music producer and cookbook author, 36, shared on Friday, July 19, he prepared an unusual dish he found on social media: a “watermelon pickle sandwich.”

Benny Blanco watermelon sandwich: Blanco said in the clip that he recently discovered the dish during a “death scroll” of food videos, and was baffled by it — or more specifically, its lack of bread.
Intrigued, Blanco tried it for himself. The video shows him cutting up a watermelon and slicing off two bread-like wedges. Then, he assembled the rest of the ingredients: cheese, a pickle slice, balsamic vinegar and basil.
“All right, so then I guess it’s just like a sandwich,” he told the camera, adding that it “looks f—— disgusting.”
One big bite later, he declared it’s “not bad,” and invited girlfriend Gomez, 31 — who had been spectating from off-camera — to try out the unusual snack. “All right, babe, come try,” he said, stepping off to the side and ushering the star in front of the camera.
“I don’t want to. I’m not going to like this,” said a very hesitant Gomez as she cautiously picked up the sandwich. “But,” she added, “I love pickles.”
Benny Blanco watermelon sandwich: Still examining the sandwich, Blanco exclaimed, “Just eat it!” and Gomez replied, “I’m trying!” before taking a bite. As she chewed, Blanco wiped a bit of watermelon juice from her nose.
After declaring that she does not, in fact, like the sandwich — a slightly less warm reaction than Blanco’s — the star meandered off-screen, and the video ended.
Blanco’s taste-testing TikTok comes after he and Gomez participated in a very different kind of video: a couple’s challenge.
In the TikTok, which the Only Murders in the Building star shared on July 12, the couple offered a glimpse into their relationship dynamic with a “Who’s Most Likely To” couple’s edition challenge.
Benny Blanco watermelon sandwich: Questions like “Who’s the first to apologize during an argument?” and “Who is more romantic?” received mixed responses from the pair. Others, such as “Who eats the most?” had clear answers, with both pointing at Blanco.
Elsewhere in the video, Gomez revealed that she was the first to say “I love you” to the producer, with whom she publicly confirmed her romance in December 2023.
