Barry Keoghan Says He’s ‘Proud’ of Sabrina Carpenter for Grammy Nominations: ‘I’ve Got to Get on the Phone Soon’
As the announcement for best pop solo performance nominees kicked off with Beyoncé and Carpenter, the musician and her friends screamed and clapped. “Beyoncé and Sabrina Carpenter!” she yelled, seemingly in shock.
Elsewhere in the reaction clips, Carpenter said, “I don’t know how that’s possible,” and cried as her friends hugged her.
“Us on the tour bus this morning take a shot every time we scream like fr headphone warning,” the singer captioned the emotional post. “This is the first year I’ve watched the live stream where I heard my name! I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t dreamt about this day my whole life so I am filled with gratitude – Thank you @recordingacademy :’)).”
In the comments, Keoghan was quick to give props, writing, “🥹💕🥇.”
Also praising the “Coincidence” singer were stars including Gracie Abrams, Maggie Rogers and Zooey Deschanel. The Recording Academy also responded in the comments, writing, “Congratulations! ✨.”
Including her song of the year nod for “Please Please Please,” Carpenter’s Grammy nominations totaled six. She was nominated for best new artist, while her album Short n’ Sweet earned nominations for both best pop vocal album and album of the year.
Her viral song “Espresso” rounded out the list with two nods: best pop solo performance and the coveted record of the year award.
