Anna Wintour Refusing to Take Off Her Sunglasses for Vogue Interview Is a Total Boss Move: Watch
Anna Wintour sets the rules.
The fashion industry icon is one of several editors featured in In Vogue: The 90s, a Hulu docuseries telling the definitive story of the fashion industry throughout the decade.
In an exclusive clip shared with PEOPLE, the powerhouse editor-in-chief of the fashion magazine is asked to take off her signature sunglasses.
“No, I’m gonna wear them,” she replies without a thought.
Before the moment, a few people share their reflections on how Wintour is an important part of Vogue‘s story.
“When you think of Anna Winotur, you just think of this chic, strong, boss woman,” Kim Kardashian says to begin the moment.
“She is this Warholian enigma, like a famous haircut. Kind of like a living legend,” explains Vogue contributing editor Jonathan Van Meter.
“There’s no two ways about it,” adds Tonne Goodman, who served as the magazine’s fashion director for 20 years. “Vogue is Anna Wintour, and Anna Wintour is Vogue.”
In addition to Wintour and Goodman, Vogue editors Hamish Bowles and Edward Enninful are also featured in the documentary, with all four serving as executive producers on the project.
Countless big names in and around fashion participated in this look back at the ’90s, including Claudia Schiffer, Donna Karan, Elizabeth Hurley, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Nicole Kidman, Sarah Jessica Parker, Stella McCartney, Vera Wang and Victoria Beckham — to name a few. The series is co-produced by Raw and Vogue Studios.
Each episode of the six-part series centers on a defining ’90s fashion moment — from grunge to hip hop, as well as focusing on major moments like the Met Gala.
In Vogue: The ’90s Vol. I debuts on Hulu on Sept. 13. Vol. II premieres on Sept. 20.
