Tori Spelling Says Son Liam, 18, Had His 1st Alcoholic Drink on Family Vacation in the Bahamas: ‘It’s Legal’

  • Tori Spelling’s eldest son Liam turned 18 on March 13, 2025
  • Spelling revealed that during the family’s spring break trip to the Bahamas, he asked her if he could get his first drink and got a piña colada
  • She also noted that her daughter Hattie enjoyed snorkeling and her son Finn enjoyed the water park at Atlantic Resort

Tori Spelling’s son Liam got a taste of adulthood in the Bahamas.

The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum, 51, shared on her MisSpelling podcast on Monday, April 28, that during the family’s spring break trip to the island nation, her 18-year-old son got the chance to try out an alcoholic drink.

“It was interesting because the legal drinking age there is 18, so he could legally have his first drink,” Spelling recalled on the podcast.

“He was like, ‘Are you okay if I try something?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah of course, you’re in the Bahamas, it’s legal. You’re 18,’ ” she continued, adding that he chose to try out a piña colada.

The TV star noted that it was fascinating to see the differences in laws when it came to what 18-year-olds could and couldn’t do in the Bahamas vs. the U.S. — something her son was also taken aback by.

“He was like, ‘This is so weird mom. I’m able to drink here,’ ” she shared. “And they can gamble [too], which we didn’t do.”

“… Legally, they can’t drive there til’ they’re 18, but they can drink and gamble at 18, and here [in the U.S.], we can’t drink or gamble till we’re 21, but you can drive at 16,” she explained.

Liam turned 18 on March 13, and his mom shared a lengthy birthday tribute to him on Instagram, alongside a carousel of photos showing him as a baby and  growing up over the years

“It’s official my 1st born is an adult,” she captioned the photos, adding that Liam “forever changed my view on life and love. You gave me a purpose. A reason.”

“… You symbolize love, loyalty, perseverance, and stamina,” she continued. “It’s a hefty weight being the oldest of five. A lot of responsibility that you’ve proven over and over to take on gallantly. The way you’ve stepped in to protect me emotionally shows how love has no boundaries.”

Spelling shares Liam, Stella Doreen, 16, Hattie Margaret, 13, Finn Davey, 12, and Beau Dean, 8, with ex Dean McDermott. On her podcast, she also shared that her kids all had different interests when it came to things to do while visiting the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas.

“Hattie went in the ocean a lot. She loved snorkeling, she loved seeing all the fishes, and doing that. Finn did the water park [at Atlantis],” she shared, adding that Stella met “some friends” whom she hung out with.

Even though her children did many of the things the island could offer, she noted that she still had the same difficulties that she had at home when it came to getting her children to stop focusing on their phones and other devices.

“[There were] multiple times [I had to] be like, ‘Guys, the scenery is great, so you can look out but if you’re on your devices, it defeats the whole purpose. We could have stayed home, and put up on the TV screen an island picture.”

However, she said the family still had a fun time, and she took tons of photos of their vacation.
