2024 Emmy Awards: See the Stars Celebrate TV on the Red Carpet and More Live Updates

The 2024 Emmy Awards are here — and Hollywood is getting a second chance to celebrate television’s best and brightest this year.

Just eight months after the delayed 2023 Emmys were held, the stars are gathering, once again, at the Peacock Theater. This ceremony will be hosted by father-son duo Eugene and Dan Levy for the first time.

Expected attendees and nominees include The Bear‘s Jeremy Allen White, Only Murders in the Building star Selena Gomez and The Morning Show‘s Jon Hamm, among other A-listers.

PEOPLE will also be broadcasting live from the red carpet in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 15, starting at 6 p.m. ET/ 3 p.m. PT. The show will be streamed on PEOPLE’s social channels, including YouTubeTikTokXInstagramFacebook and Roku Channel.

Reese Witherspoon seemed to tease as such during the Emmys red carpet on Sept. 15, telling E! during the network’s preshow that while she hasn’t watch any of the Real Housewives franchises but she did recently meet one of the stars.

“I did sit next to a Real Housewife on a flight recently,” said Witherspoon.

Witherspoon didn’t want to name names, though. “Well we might have a Hello Sunshine project cooking now, but I can’t say anything. But it was cool, it was really cool,” she said.

Kathy Bates Clarifies Retirement Comments on Emmys Carpet

Kathy Bates is not imminently retiring.

The iconic actress made sure to clarify recent comments she made about her career during the 2024 Emmy Awards on Sunday.

“No plans [to retire from show business],” she assured during the E! preshow. “No, I think it was misunderstood.”

In a new interview with The New York Times published on Sept. 8, Bates said of starring in the new Matlock reboot, “This is my last dance.”

On the Emmys carpet, Bates told E! “Because I had one foot out the door before I read Jennie Urman’s script [for Matlock] and I was like, ‘Ah okay, now we’re talking.’ And now I want the show to run for years and years.”

“So many people said, ‘Taylor Swift looked like Alan Cumming,’ which is a sentence I never thought I would hear.”

Walton Goggins is nominated for Fallout during Sunday’s Emmy Awards, but PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly’s Red Carpet Live show just got the scoop on another popular series the actor is a part of.

Goggins is appearing in the third season of White Lotus, and said on Sept. 15 that he’s excited “for everybody to see what [creator Mike White] wrote.”

Dan and Eugene Levy aren’t intimidated by their big hosting gig at the 2024 Emmys. In fact, they’re more than ready to step up to the plate.

In an interview with PEOPLE ahead of the show, Dan said, “We’re both really hard workers and we’re determined to make it as great as it can possibly be.”

“We want to create an atmosphere that feels really welcome and celebratory,” continued the Schitt’s Creek alum. “This is a huge night in so many people’s lives and we just want to be there to kind of make it as festive as possible for everybody.”

Eugene teased that his son Dan is “a perfectionist” but the latter insisted they’ve both been passing back and forth notes.

“We’re both sending equal amounts; he just doesn’t quite know how to work his email as well as I do. So we’re dealing with a few technical issues, but that’s totally fine,” Dan said.
